'06 FL S/WR Jamar Hornsby (official thread)

i'm skeptical as to how serious he is about us. i'm wondering if this is a courtesy visit for Mo Wells' sake. he doesn't list us in his top 5, yet we get an official? very curious.
also, he makes no bones about saying that UF is his top choice. i too think that's where he ends up. but who knows, if he comes up for the Texas game we could end up jumping up his list.

A month ago HH thought we had a real shot at this kid. He is Hazell's #1 recruiting target. He wants to play early, and if he's as good as advertised he could make an impact as a big WR or as a FS with the departure of Salley.

HH and others had mentioned that before Hornsby had said that he didn't say OSU was on his top list, but he truly did have him as one of his favorites.

HH may know mare than he lets on. I don't want to see Hornsby go to Michigan because that may increase TT chances of going there. I don't think OSU is after Tebow now that you have Henton, but if Hornsby goes to OSU then Tebow would probably put OSU near the top of his favorites.

That's crazy I had given up on Hornsby and don't get me wrong i'm still highly skeptical as it could be a courtesy visit to Wells. I would love to see us recruit him and Tebow really hard they are both the real deal imo. If we get them in for the Texas game possibly we get into the race. A good visit does wonders and i'm very surprised that he picked us and scUM as his first officials.

It looks like this may be a Florida-OSU-Michigan battle. Does anyone know when he is visiting OSU? Is it for an un-official and official or just an official?

If OSU throws the ball alot this year, Hornsby could very well end up in Columbus. Maybe he thinks he could be like Santonio Holmes, a former Florida WR who goes on to Ohio State. The biggest hurdle though is Meyer's relationship with Jamar. It is pretty close. Meyer has been his personal alarm clock during this summer, waking him up at 7:30 every morning with a text message.

Does anyone else see anything wrong with this close of a relationship? Seems a little weird to me. I know these coaches want to develop strong relationships with these kids but at what point does it stop. In addition, when will the NCAA crack down on text messages being a form of contact similar to a telephone call? Its an instant form of communcation unlike a written note. Just curious on that end.

I personnally dont see him leaving FL but what do I know. I do know that I am sick of hearing Michigan using the legendary #1 jersey as a way to entice kids....

The Text Mess thing will probably be eliminated soon. I don't think it is that big of a deal, but I can see why it would be done away with. But it is not a problem now, and if it makes a kid feel closer to a coach, I say go for it. It must make Hornsby good to be able to say that one of the best young coaches in college football is my personal alarm clock.

there is no way this kid is leaving somewehre where it is warm. of his top 6 schools, only michigan was somewhere where it was not constantly warm. i dont think we have a shot with this kid considering he didnt name us in his top 6 and is pretty big on florida.

I wouldn't mind being out with some friends and gettin a text and they say who is that? And I say oh just Urban Meyer UF's head coach. I can see where this would be affective. I am pretty sure it is for an official visit which is why I think it turned so many heads. I think we will throw the ball quite a bit and should look appealing to offensive recruits. Also at the safety position he could get immediate playing time. Salley and Everret are gone after this year and Whitner will be a senior. This could be a huge part in his recruitment if we are recruiting him to go both ways possibly. I would love to get him but I say that he stays home in the end. Hopefully Maurice can talk him into OSU though.

I'm prety sure we would be bringing him on board and figuring out the position later. I got the impression from his interviews that he'd be happy playing safety too, especially if it were at a school that allowed two-way players like OSU.

HH has been saying for a while that he thought there was a very reasonable shot it could come down to two teams with OSU being one of them.

I still really like his ability to come in and replace Salley and have the versatility to be a big play WR with size (that we are still work on developing at this time, we have some potential but nothing proven).
