'06 FL S/WR Jamar Hornsby (official thread)

great news, I've been drinking HH's koolaid about this kid from day one, holding out hope. Looks like we'll get him in for a visit after all. And he is definitely looking to play early, and between needing a replacement for Salley and watching his former teammate Wells get early PT this year, I think we have a lot to offer. Here's to hoping we can make him feel comfortable with OSU.

You sure? It says he has high interest in Tech, Georgia, Michigan, USC and OSU. He also said he will visit OSU, Michigan and USC. Florida isn't one of his official visits so far and he has 5 teams listed at "high" interest. There isn't anything above high interest. I hope he is still considering Florida, but I am thinking more and more that it 'could' be an OSU/USC/Michigan battle. The Mo Wells connection sounds like it is in OSU's favor.

He's quoted as saying he's leaning to Florida, and doesn't need to visit the place right around the corner. He seems to downplay the MoWells thing, other than it getting him to visit.

Sounded to me as though he were explaining his visits, and when he came to us, that we were on the visit list mainly for Mo Well's sake. That'll work as far as I am concerned; just get him in and he can see for himself what the school is like. It doesn't sound as though he had any particular reason for not being a "fit," and if he's picked up an off impression somehow in Florida (where everyone loves us), a day in the 'Shoe sounds like the very good plan.

Ok, thanks. If I were OSU, I'm not sure if I would even invite JH for a visit. If he really said he doesn't think he fits in at OSU, then bringing him in may cause more harm than good. He is a Jacksonville kid, who from what I hear, is heavily favoring the local team. He said he doesn't believe he is a fit, etc. If you bring him in for a visit, you run the risk of him recruiting other kids to a different school and you also waste time on a guy who is a lost cause.

Jamar will be at plenty of big time games. He is going to the Tennessee-Florida night game and will probably be at the FSU game as well.

I never liked it when Florida would bring in big time recruits who weren't real serious. I'm not saying that Hornsby is that way though.
