'06 FL S/WR Jamar Hornsby (official thread)

I don't really trust anything Geis says after his comments about Maurice. I will make my opinions based on Jamar himself, and Jamar plainly said he was very interested in us and he will camp with us.

I wouldnt believe anything Geis has to say either. HE CLEARLY was bitter about Mo Wells choosing OSU, because Mo was his meal ticket towards an assistant coaching position at Georgia Tech. Im actually surprised Geis hasnt tried to get Hornsby more interested in Tech.

From FlaVarsity.com...Jamar has been named the top player in the state of Florida by FlaVarsity.com for 2005. They released their top 50 for the state yesterday and OSU is at least in the mix with 4 of the top 5.

With all due respect to Sunshine Preps and other websites out there, we do not feel he is the best recruit in the state of FL. On April 15th I will post our list, which is slightly diffrent.

I am glad that so many people picked up on Geis and what was going on with him. At one point in mid November, it was really Hazell vs. Geis for a 12 rounder. It seems that Coach H. as parched things up.

The good news: Hornsby & Wells are good friends (besides teammates), Hornsby has agreed to come up to camp. (I am concerned however as he was intially wavering and I don't know why for sure), OSU wants him initially at Safety, which he really wants to play.

The Bad News: He has a ton of family who all live basically between FSU and UF (Tallahasee & Gainsville). Urban Myer has said that Hornsby is a priority for UF, He has a relative (Uncle or Cuz) who works for FSU.

Summary: In totality and after camp, you have to love OSU's chances at this kid.

That is terrifying if he is able to play safety (plus the capacity to have a jump ball receiver on roster too), that kind of size would allow him to almost not jump when defending pass plays :) Thanks for teh update HH, your input is always appreciated around here...

I am glad we are recruiting him on the defensive side of the ball because his videos at safety were extremely impressive. Hopefully Mo shows him around while he is up here for camp and we get an official out of Jamar.

From Warchant.com...Jamar is proud to be FlaVarsity.com's #1 player. He is headed to Georgia Tech this weekend for their Junior Day. He has offers from FSU, Florida, Ohio State, Michigan, Georgia Tech, and South Carolina, among others. He mentions that he is looking forward to staying in touch with (2005 South Carolina signee) Marvin Sapp and Maurice Wells.

From the South Carolina site...South Carolina is in the mix because his former teammate Marvin Sapp is in Columbia. Jamar plans on going to some Nike camps, some college camps, and then taking his visits before making a decision.

From Scout.com...Jamar visited GT this past weekend. He loved the visit and GT has moved up his list. He also mentions interest in Florida, Florida State, Miami and USC. No mention of OSU.

I in no way doubt that Jamar's recruitment is long from over. When I said there was mention of OSU, I should have said there was no mention of OSU among his talk of his favorites.
