'05 OH Safety Adam Myers-White (Tennessee signee)

MegaWoody and Brutus2002, how either one of you can call the kid egotistical is beyond me. Where a recruit decides to attend college is probably the biggest decision in their lives to this point. Myers-White has decided he wants to look around so he can make the best decision for him. Believe it or not Ohio State isn't always the best fit for some kids and they want to look around to see if they fit in better somewhere else. Is Donte Whitner any less of a Buckeye because he took all 5 visits before deciding to attend Ohio State? Hardly.

That said, let's leave the bashing of recruits and the decisions they make to other sites.

I think it is a combination of all of the above.

And while I think it is wrong to bash recruits, there is a fine line in discussing why the offer was pulled and bashing.

I think this will make a few recruits realize that tOSU is filling up its class.

There is a list of positions / needs / recruits that clearly shows that JT
has his ducks in a row, and is filling up this class in a thoughtful directed manner. This class has filled with some big time players, and now it is time
to concentrate on definite needs ... such as running back.

So we narrow our focus ... and avoid the pulling of offers at the last minute.
Great move on tOSU's part. Plus its lets the recruits out their start thinking ..... pull the trigger or look elsewhere.

IMHO

I'm with Nutty here...no matter what he said, he has already reaped his reward by losing his offer. If he was playing games...he got burnt. However, there is no need to bash a kid just because he doesn't feel as strongly about the Buckeyes as we do.

BuckNutty:

First, I agree with you about bashing recruits on the board. I have been an offender, primarilly where Alex Daniels is concerned, and I will desist. 90% of my posts are encouraging, cheerleader stuff, but I will bump that up to 100% in the future.

Second, taking visits is not egotistical at all and I never said it was. It is exactly what a truly undecided kid should do. But I believe that the way AMW has handled himself publicly, in the recruiting media, has been egotistical. I suspect that had much to do with his losing tOSU opportunity. If what he said to OSU recruiting staff didn't jibe with what he said to the press, the coaches had good reason to doubt he was dealing in good faith.

I guess we are gonna have to agree to disagree. I think it's an excellent move by the coaching staff. We have bigger fish to fry with people who actually might want to be a Buckeye!!!

What exactly do we disagree on? Have I said the staff made a bad decision by pulling the scholarship? I think you'll find I haven't commented on it one way or the other. If AMW was not a player the staff was interested in anymore than they did the right thing by letting him know now while there is plenty of time to focus his attention elsewhere.

I'm not going to split hairs about what constitutes bashing a recruit but calling a kid egotistical and some of the other things that have been said about AMW on here are just wrong. No one should act like they know a player and what they're about because they read a few articles about them on the internet.

There is a psychology here. Kids would rather shop at the GAP as opposed to Big Lots. By pulling the schollie we establish ourselves as an exclusive team that is selling fast.
I would rather create demand as opposed to being in the sale bid 80% off on NLI day.

I have to think that it is good to be exclusive for the top HS recruits. Kids always want what they might not get (or at least my kids do).

Well i'm not gonna research it for you Bucknutty. The kid has said some things about OSU that i'm sure made the coaches raise their eyebrows!!!!! I said he implies that OSU is mediocre!!!! read my post again!!! I wish he would have just came out and said it!! I would have had more respect for him.

I think OSU is going in a different direction than alot of schools. I mean this in a positive way.

I guess we are gonna have to agree to disagree. I think it's an excellent move by the coaching staff. We have bigger fish to fry with people who actually might want to be a Buckeye!!!

AMW stated recently that osu was his leader! he has NEVER said anything bad about osu(i think you were thinking of daniels). either way, your attack of this kid is a disgrace and you should be banned!

on the whole AMW situation, this is a case of the coaches not liking what they were seeing in camps/games, and not having enough scholly's to take a guy they were not sure of; it's not a case of AMW cooling on us, or any off the feild problems.

adam is a great kid and he'll do well wherever he goes.

I apaologize to the members of Buckeyeplanet!!!

Then I am wrong and I appologize to every poster on Buckeyeplanet. I respectfully request that all of my posts that seem offensive be removed from the board. I don't want to get anyone mad at me nor do I want to insult anyone on the board. I guess I have been wrong in my interpretations of articles I have read.

Once again sorry for the "Bucknutsesque" posts by myself. Once again I'm sorry for my negative posts guys.

Brutus2002

P.S. I guess sometimes I get wound up because i'm very passionate about the Buckeyes. My wife thinks I am a lunatic!!!

I vaguely remember the story of AMW's camp performance at OSU. He was sluggish and on very little sleep after a basketball camp or something basketball related. I'd guess that more than just the camp performance went into the evaluation.

By the way brutus2002, I don't think you owe anybody an apology. You did seem a little worked up but you'd still be one of the calmer ones on Bucknuts.

Brutus, I'm pretty sure you can delete your own posts. I'd also like to say I appreciate the fact you were willing to apologize for what you said. I respect that and the issue now should be dropped.

A couple of things.

1) How bad is his injury?
2) How bad is he playing?
3) Do you think it sent a message to the OSU staff that he would play in a fricken Summer Hoops tourney and have a poor shwoing at OSU?
4) Are we think O'Neil at Safety, Daniels or Oatis and this will help secure them?
5) Does OSU really believe that he is firm or do they want to set the tone that they can go elsewhere to close this thing down?

I agree that a kid should be able to look around but when you are talking four and five star kids it can be thought of as "first come, first serve". I agree that we should be creating demand and quicker verbals as we are not a strong closer on LOI day. At least this was done now instead of after a verbal commitment. There are plenty of other fish in the pond and we haven't exactly burned a bridge with Hamilton over this one.

First off, any speculation about why we dropped AMW offer is just that "speculation"
Second, who are we as arm chair coaches to question a coaching staff that is 30-2 after the last 2 1/2 years, I trust our coaches 100% that they know what there doing for whatever reason! I know are coaches are NOT going to do anything to destroy the integrity of the school or the team
JUST TRUST OUR 30-2 COACHES AND LET IT GO!
P.S. I hope its 30-2 can't remember
