2008 tOSU Offensive Line discussion (official thread)

exactly right, we need more size on both lines, quick. The men are doing a good job, but especially at the d line, we need the size. Sure the trend is towards smaller linemen on the d side to defend against the spread with speed. However, the two gapper still rules the day. It's the same on...

    LB Coach James Laurinaitis (2x B1G DPOY, 2006 Nagurski, 2007 Butkus, 2008 Lott, 3x All-American, OSU HOF)

Thought James and the rest of the backers( Homan esp.) did very well. Our players are surpemely talented. Our coordinator is less so.

So proud of the squad, this was the first game(it seemed) where we were FIRED UP on the sidelines!! :gobucks1:

Mark May (Blew 5 guys at Pitt)

Apologies if this is not allowed, but just for fun, I made a facebook page related to this topic. Maybe we can send it on to ESPN and get some pub? http://www.new.facebook.com/group.php?gid=41824050644 :gobucks1:

Pistol vs Spread-My gun is bigger than yours

Has the pistol replaced the spread as the offense of the future? Watched Nevada play over the weekend. Whatever that Chris Ault cooks in his football meth lab, I think it works. They ran for a ton, and UNLV was pretty much at their mercy. Granted,it's Nevada and UNLV. But on the surface, it...

    2008 SEC Discussion

2008-Year of SEC Exposure After this weekend, do you think it's fair to say the power dynamic has shifted in college fb? And by that, I mean to the Big 12 and a lesser extent,B10? To wit: Georgia gets owned- That game was less competitive at the half than OUR game vs SC. Bama's o-line was a...

    Raiders fire Kiffin

With apologies to the Raiders fans amongst us, this is a new low. They're only going to go to court over the contract. Why not just pay the guy out and send him on his way instead of picking such a bizarre acrimonius route? Oh wait..it is Al Davis.

Ole Miss 31, Florida 30 (Final!)

Florida rushing totals: Harvin10-82 Tebow15-7-2 I think the secret is out with tebow. You stuff him, it looks like Florida may not react well and loses focus. Granted, Harvin's still grabbing 8.2 a carry, but Harvin doesn't have the impact team wide that Tebow has,I think.

    Congrats from a Gopher fan

Same to you Goph, your boys have made quite the rebound and have a bright future! I think all of us are delighted to have an informed, polite fan in our midst. Should you feel the need to switch allegiance, we have room in Buckeye Nation:)

QB/WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

In a word: versatility. The pistol essentially gives you the options of a shotgun in the pass game, while also keeping the D honest with the run. It is a mix of shotgun and singleback offenses. You can use plays like draws and counters pretty easily, while still having the receivers in there...

    Paterno vs Bowden

I tease my PSU alum wife all the time about how involved/concerned and agitated Paterno is. It's a great thing to watch a dude so obviously doing what he was meant to do.Albeit not as well as we do:wink2: In almost every post game, he has a quote in there like "We're just not that good" or...

    Ohio State Fans & Boos

I see your point. However, you would agree that they get the tuition because they make a supreme committment as a student athlete and that all Buckeye's benefit from the action and success of our program,no?

LB Matt Wilhelm (All-American, National Champion, Super Bowl Champion, OSU HOF)

Matt's a great player and one of the strongest returning starters for the Bolts. I think he either led or was near the top in tackles for us last year. Turner is...Turner. I'm not nearly convinced he's a long term answer at coach. And throwing Matt like he did is lame, the D is struggling w/o...
