Boo Clarett. Boo Irizzary. Boo Robert Reynolds. They brought shame and embarrassment to the university and its football program.

TB has been nothing but a model student-athlete and loyal Buckeye.

Anyone who booed him, whether student, alum or casual fan, is not a real Buckeye.

Equally embarrassing was the empty seats in front of the scoreboard in South stands.

Yup, sometimes the crowd can be a little less consistent for the smaller games. But bring Penn State or Michigan to town, and it is painfully and wonderfully loud.

... Or the '03 NCST game that went into triple OT... I was at that game (My first and only one to date) and I still can't hear right all the way.

Ah yes, that one was a dandy! I still think that one is the best that I have ever watched in the Shoe. The highs and lows of that game come just short of the title game in 2002.

I was at the OSU - Troy game, and I also watched it later on TV. I have to let you guys know - the "boos" on TV were greatly over-exaggerated and did not represent what it actually sounded like in the 'shoe from C-deck at all. There were really only a few negative mutters both times Boeckman came in. The only discernible negative reaction from the crowd happened when he skipped the ball off the turf. I heard a little bit of "booing" come from the student section and from the seats behind the OSU bench, but absolutely nothing like it sounded on TV. (As an audio engineer I can say that this was most likely a result of the placement of the broadcast crowd mics being pointed directly at the seats along the field.) Anyway, after he biffed on the throw, the general verbal reaction was basically "what the hell was that?" - not the "boo Todd Boeckman" that was heard on the TV. 99% of the people there responded disappointedly, but not inappropriately. Bottom line - A handful of (probably drunk) assholes shouted and booed their lungs out and it ended up sounding a lot worse than it actually was.

To all the so-called Ohio State fans who booed Todd Boeckman, you showed yourself to be a classless bunch.
Your actions stained a day which should have been nothing but a celebration of a young talent's debut at the helm of the Buckeyes.
Cheer new quarterback Terrelle Pryor, the highly acclaimed freshman. He deserved it for leading OSU past overmatched Troy 28-10 Saturday, Sept. 20.
But shower Boeckman with scorn?
That's a new low, even among those twisted few at OSU who think it's cool to spit on Michigan fans and torch old furniture and parked cars after big victories.
On a day when he already had to be crushed, Boeckman entered the game for just two plays, threw an incompletion and got treated worse than O.J. Simpson.
I made this point in my "Through the Arch" blog the other day, and the avalanche of response has been heated ? once again showing no team in this state stokes passions like the Buckeyes.
This came from someone called Bob: "It doesn't shock me at all that they booed him. OSU fans are some of the most obnoxious, classless, bandwagon jumping, in-your-face-for-no-reason-at-all chumps that ever rooted for any sports team. I don't enjoy seeing OSU lose as much as I enjoy seeing their fans' ginormous egos deflated. The team? Go Bucks. The fans? Go home."

Todd Boeckman, who was the starting quarterback for an Ohio State team that won a Big Ten championship and played in the national title game last season, was booed during his brief appearance last week against Troy. Left tackle Alex Boone took note, and likely would have taken names if he'd had the chance. "I thought it was very rude and disrespectful," Boone said after practice yesterday. "For somebody to boo a player who took us to a championship, that shows no respect for that player."
The crowd responded after Boeckman, subbing for new starter Terrelle Pryor, threw his lone pass into the ground. Boone figured the boos were a carryover from those upset by Boeckman's three-turnover game in the 35-3 loss at top-ranked Southern California the week before.
"He didn't play so great against USC, but who did; we all got smashed," Boone said. "People started booing him, and everyone kind of got mad about that.

[censored] every single person in that stadium who booed Tood Boeckman. I hope you got hit by a [censored]ing bus walking home. If you didn't tell me where you live and I'll drive a bus over there right now. I know its been said a bunch of places, but I hate our fans. This is [censored]ing bull[censored].

Lets all remember, this is a 24 year old man who has given the last 6 years of his life to this university. Hell, he chose to a grayshirt to come here, having to pay some of his way instead of taking full rides to other places. He comes out, he pours his heart and soul into this university, he gives us his best effort. Do a lot of us wish he had more natural talent so his best effort was more what we were hoping for? Of course, I am sure every one of us does. But lets put this into perspective- these fans are booing him because last year he was this teams best option to lead us to victory (which, if anyone deserves blame for, is certainly the coaches and NOT Todd), came out and won the job, and performed well considering what a lot of people were expecting- not exceptional, but very well, and oh, yeah, I forgot, led us to the national championship game in a rebuilding year.

Todd has never been accused of dogging it. Todd has never taken a cheap shot at another player, said anything but great things about his coaching staff, teammates, and university, or even gotten remotely in trouble. Todd has always given himself completely to the team, doing whatever he can to make it better, to lead us to victory, showing the heart of a warrior, if not a champion. So what do we do? We boo him off the field for throwing an incomplete pass during the game he got benched.

I'm personally apoligize to all those fans- I am sorry that your parents concieved you. I wish I could go back however many [censored]ing years it was and put a condom on your dad. But I can't, so if you could just do us all a favor and not go to games, save the tickets for people who are going to come out and support every single player on that team for being a Buckeye and giving their best effort, that would be [censored]ing fantastic.

I was embarassed to be a Buckeye fan in the Shoe on Saturday. Truly embarassed that I was associated with a fan base that boos a player who has given us 6 years of hard work. And if I ever see it again, God help whoever is booing.

Yes that shows a total lack of class by some of the Ohio State fans. There would be nothing wrong with cheering your ass off for #2. BUT, Ohio State will need Todd again and I hope he is not ruined by all of this. NEWSFLASH, players are human too. I know the era of just simple college kids playing football is over or never really was, and a good part of that is due to media coverage and fanatic sports fans. But think of this, let us imagine that you get laid off (sp?) and some newer and differently talented employee gets your job and the staff boos you. It would decimate almost all of you. By the way, Pryor is not the total fix for the Ohio State offense and season. Him starting as a qb probably was a recruiting promise to land him at OSU. I will cheer him in everything he does. If he is the qb and loses a game, I won't boo him, now or ever. Maybe booing the true adults, as in the coaches, is acceptable, but they are ours for better or worse. Get a grip on your perspective and your lives. The sun still comes up after a win or a loss. This is "our" team. Learn how to be good, no make that great fans. As Jim Collins says in his book, "Good is the enemy of Great." To all of you selfish, negative people who deflect their frustrations towards young men and young women: You are a huge lump of Wolverine Dung! :(

personally i think the topic called for more. but thats just me.

possibly the wrong time to bring this up, because I like Todd. He seems like a good kid. But claiming he led us to the NC game is a bit much. He was on a team that got to the NC game, just as much as AJ Trapasso.

while ive probably been one of the more critical of boeckman over the last 2 years. honestly, i think he deserves alot more credit for last year than he is getting.

I don't believe that is in very good taste to boo an Ohio State player. Unless possibly they do something to discredit the school (i.e. Clarett). However, when a fans pays $65 a ticket to see the game I do believe that they have a right to express their opinion (i.e. boo or cheer) if they want to.

and how much of that $65 goes to the player again? id venture to guess less than 1%. in my book that means you have a less than 1% right to voice your displeasure with the players. id support your right to a refund. but thats about it.

intentions are irrelivant. it doesn't matter who you were "directing" your boo'ing towards. i think at this point it has become VERY clear that not only the team (as more than 1 player has responded negatively to the media about the booing) but the parents of players all felt it was directed towards them.

if a person is going to complain, that person would be wise to make certain their message is received by their target audience and only their target audience.

I see your point.However,you would agree that they get the tuition because they make a supreme committment as a student athlete and that all Buckeye's benefit from the action and success of our program,no?

Just a question...how much experience do you have with D-1 athletes? Not hearsay or stories, but actual experience with a D-1 athlete. What about football players at the D-1 level?

These kids have IT MADE. you should'nt act like there making some great sacrifice. They love playing football, and most of the kids on the team are getting A LOT for playing here. Playing for OSU is a privelege.

i played D-1 golf in college and i'll tell you that i earned every dollar in scholarship money i got. don't even get me started with football. i think you will agree that football is just a bit harder than golf.
