 I'd put the crowd at about 25-35% of it's noise for big games. Very docile bunch yesterday. My little brother and I can't wait to come to a game again next year!

Yeah Baby!!!daddyphatsacs;1267941; said:With an enthusiastic fan base comes a batch of sour apples. We certainly are not immune to it. It's pretty evident to see that the bandwagon got a lot lighter after the USC loss........I consider that healthy for a program's fan base. The true fans stick by their team throughout the good and bad, not allowing themselves to get too elevated by the highs, and not too crushed by the losses.
In the end we all have to take a step back and view this thing from what we all are.....fans. I find it inexcusable that Todd B. was booed by fans yesterday. He's an amateur athlete......he has been a great ambassador of the program. To think that some 40 or 50 year old that lived an impotent athletic career has the audacity to boo him, well it makes me sad. Not necessarily for Todd, because he's a bright kid with a strong will......and he's got a hell of a future ahead of him regardless of the path that he chooses. I'm moreso sad for the guy that doesn't have anything better to do with his life than to boo someone for how they perform a collegiate sport.
I read this on another thread, I think Gator said it. If people want to get worked up about something, how about something productive? Be outraged by serious problems that confront us in the world, not how our QB short armed a receiver with his only throw. Have fun with it, it's only a sport.
With the recent surge of success that Tressel has brought has come unrealistic expectations. As I said earlier, losses like the ones last week do a good job weeding out dickhead fans such as the ones that booed Todd B.
Yup, sometimes the crowd can be a little less consistent for the smaller games. But bring Penn State or Michigan to town, and it is painfully and wonderfully loud.CentralMOBuck;1267936; said:And I thought that it was loud at times. I can't imagine what it would be like where everyone is standing a whole game and yelling! I would have like to seen those two possessions Troy had inside the five on the other side of the field.
I just got dumber.jtressel;1268320; said:I for one did not boo Todd Boeckman. I think he is an NFL caliber QB, but only when he has protection from an o-line. He's a classic pocket QB.
When the coaching staff put in Boeckman, I and other fans were already upset at the coaching decision. Why put Todd in for 1 play when he's not warmed up and when Pryor is on a roll? Then when he threw the ball 10 yards short, it just validated our anger and the booing got louder. You see, we're intelligent fans but every outsider assumed we were booing the player. We're not that primitive. You find that kind of fan in the SEC. Ever been to a basketball game in Indiana? Ever fan knows every rule and every facet of the game. An OSU football game is a lot like that.
Were there fans boing the players? Yep, I heard one in my section. I too was upset with Robiskie's half a$$ attempt at catching a perfectly thrown ball. I was also upset, as I always am, with our lazy o-line. You out there Alex Boone? But I never booed a player.
So a message to all you outsiders who may go to one game this year or have a radio talk show, a la Colin Cowherd...chill out. You are making huge assumptions without knowing the facts...or more importantly, what's in the hearts of the fans.
jwinslow;1268327; said:False. There was not a chorus of boos when Todd came in the game, the hate rained down from the shoe when he missed the pass. Had he completed a pass, there would have been clapping and slight cheering.
No booing ever occurs unless the players are failing too. Unless you go boo Jim in his office at the WHAC, you boo them all. The players were disgusted when those boos rained down. You simply cannot boo the coaches without booing the players as well. You may be trying to, but you shame them all, since the players' failures preceded the boos.
Recruits were really turned off by the booing yesterday.
