Urban Meyer Retired...the rules to the recruiting forum have not changed

MD Buckeye posted this in the recruiting forum rules sticky at the top of the page, but I feel like posters are not actually reading the existing thread based on the comments I keep reading in the individual recruiting threads. I hope this post maybe makes it clear and we can just merge it in or delete it after the fact, but felt it warranted its own thread for now.

We have a strict policy in the recruiting against bashing recruits, which will not just be ignored because Urban Meyer retired and some of you feel like recruits should have blind faith to our school regardless of that news. I am as bummed about the retirement as any other fan is, but it doesn't change how we have handled things here. To be clear, bashing does not just mean an outright insult or negative comment against a recruit, but also posts that state a recruit is wrong for not committing to Ohio State or because of backing off because of the news UFM has retired. They are young adults making the hardest decisions of their lives, and everything is not as simple to a 16-18 year old kid deciding how the rest of their life might end up as an OSU fan on the internet.

Whether you all agree with it or not, Urban Meyer retiring is going to make some recruits reassess the biggest decision of their young adult lives. We all hope that the best recruits will ultimately decide that OSU is still the right choice and they believe in Ryan Day as the future. We should all root for that to happen and the program is going to be just fine no matter what. But the mocking and second guessing of some recruits in the last 48 hours is not acceptable at BP, and will not be tolerated in the recruiting forum.

Please clean it up. Thank you.

The Ohio State men’s basketball team (7-1, 1-0 Big Ten) will travel to Chicago to take on Illinois (2-6, 0-1 Big Ten) at 7 p.m. on Wednesday night.

The Buckeyes come into the game following a 79-59 victory at home against Minnesota to open the Big Ten season following their first loss of the season to Syracuse the past week.

The Fighting Illini limped through a challenging non-conference slate that featured three losses in the Maui Invitational tournament that featured several highly ranked teams such as No. 1 Gonzaga and No. 3 Duke, in November.

The Illini fell to No. 1 Gonzaga, Xavier and Iowa State in the tournament by an average of just over 10 points per contest.

Projected Starters

No. 19 Ohio State (7-1, 1-0)

G — C.J. Jackson — Senior, 13.3 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 2.9 apg

G — Keyshawn Woods – Redshirt Senior, 7.0 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 3.0 apg

F — Kyle Young — Sophomore, 7.9 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 1.0 apg

F — Andre Wesson — Junior, 8.1 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 1.6 apg

F — Kaleb Wesson — Sophomore, 14.5 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 1.0 apg

Illinois (2-6, 0-1)

G — Trent Frazier – Sophomore, 14.7 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 3.4 apg

G — Aaron Jordan – Senior, 11.1 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 1.9 apg

G — Ayo Dosunmu – Freshman, 13.1 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 3.1 apg

F — Giorgi Bezhanishvili – Freshman, 10.0 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 1.5 apg

F — Kipper Nichols – Redshirt Junior, 7.9 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 1.3 apg

Under head coach Brad Underwood, Illinois has yet to find a full-time starting five this season, something Underwood has said he expects to continue.

Illinois features four players that average double-digit scoring averages through the first eight games of the season, led by sophomore guard Trent Frazier, who has started all seven of the games in which he has appeared.

Following the injury to freshman guard Luther Muhammad, Ohio State has looked to redshirt senior guard Keyshawn Woods to fill in the final spot in the starting five.

Ohio State head coach Chris Holtmann said he has been pleased with what Woods has brought to the team both on and off the court following his transfer from Wake Forest, although Holtmann admitted Woods did not have his best game in Sunday’s win against Minnesota.

Woods will need to bounce back to form and help fellow senior guard C.J. Jackson carry the load in the backcourt for the Buckeyes during Muhammad’s absence.

For sophomore forward Kaleb Wesson, he will be tasked with matching up against Illinois’ pair of post players in freshman forward Giorgi Bezhanishvili who averages 10 points per game and five rebounds per game, as well as seven-foot graduate transfer center Adonis De La Rosa, who does not often make his presence felt on the stat sheet, but will certainly pose a challenge to Wesson due to his size.

The Buckeyes and Illini are scheduled to tip off from the United Center in Chicago Wednesday night at 7 p.m.

2019 tOSU Offense (Official Thread)

Lets get it going too... depth chart should be as so. If I'm missing someone please correct it!

QB-Martell (Haskins?)
RB- Dobbins/Teague/Snead
WR-Mack/Victor/Olave/Saunders/Harris/Garrett (Hill?)
TE- Farrell/Ruckert
T-Munford
G-Davis
C-Jordan
G-Bowen
T-Petit-Frere

All hinges on Haskins on so many things. How our offense operates and even who comes back I think (Hill). We have a shot to be very good here too provided the OL comes through. We will have the best tight end duo I think we've ever had, a primary RB which may actually help, and a very physical OL.

I have no problems either way either QB running the show. If Tate can operate the crossing route concepts he will be killer with another year under his belt. Obviously if its Dwayne the offense IMO will surpass this past seasons.

Overall if the OL is good this will be a dominant offense. 2019 shaping up so dang nice!

Arrggghh! Dental Insurance? Other Dental Discount Programs?

OMG, I hate dealing with this crap.

I hated the dentist who took my UnitedHealthcare insurance so much that I haven't been back. Now, I'm looking at various dental-only insurance plans (Humana for $14.99/month), plus other discount programs like "Smile Protection Plan" that one chain of offices offers for a $69 up front fee, plus free x-rays, cheaper cleanings, etc.

I mostly just want to be able to get competent regular cleanings without getting slammed with a $3-400 fee for the damn x-rays, which they all want to do at least twice a year.

Anyway, anybody have experience with using insurance, or dentists who offer discount programs? I'd appreciate your feedback.

Big Ten champ Ohio State didn't make the College Football Playoff, but the Buckeyes got a pretty nice consolation prize in the 2019 Rose Bowl Game. The Buckeyes, who finished No. 6 in the final CFP rankings and face Pac-12 champ Washington in their first trip to Pasadena since the 2009 season, pace nine Big Ten bowl teams.

2019 tOSU Defense (Official Thread)

Well I started the defensive thread this time last year so I figured I'd get it started.
Here's a look at what we have coming back.

DE-Young and Cooper
DT- Landers and Vincent/Togai
OLB- Harrison/Werner
MLB-Borland/Browning
CB- Wade/Okudah/Sheffield/Arnette
S- White/Fuller

Overall we have damn near everyone coming back (left out Jones as he's probably going pro, Fuller is possible too) but unless we get some things fixed that may not entirely be a good thing. LBs need addressed and so does the duo of Arnette/Sheffield.

The potential is there to be very very good but some structural things need changed IMO for it to be the case.

Help me troll a Wolverine on Amazon?

I was looking for a 2018 gold pants game shirt to add to my ridiculously large collection of such shirts... when I came across this:

Help me out now... that makes no sense... right? Maybe they made it before the game. Anyway... thought some of you creative types might want to leave some reviews for the product to help other Amazon shoppers out: https://www.amazon.com/review/create-review/ref=dpx_acr_wr_link?asin=B07H8VM5ND#
