5-star LB Teradja Mitchell includes Ohio State in his top schools

Ohio State wrapped their historic 2017 recruiting class on Wednesday and will now look ahead in hopes of putting together an even better class next year. While it will be a tall task because of just how outstanding the class wound up, they got some good news yesterday in regards to their standing with one of the nation’s best for 2018.
Mitchell names Top 11
When you just inked a handful of five-star prospects for 2017, it’s definitely only a positive sign when another five-star puts your program in high regards. That happened Wednesday when 2018 linebacker
Teradja Mitchell (Virginia Beach, VA / Bishop Sullivan Catholic) revealed his list of top schools—and the Buckeyes were included.
Mitchell is currently graded out as the 27th best prospect in his class. The 6-foot-2, 232-pounder also is pegged as the top inside linebacker and second best player in the Old Dominion State. The Buckeyes have been in on the Virginian dating back to May 2015. It was at that time when Mitchell received the offer from the Buckeyes.
While Ohio State has to feel good about being included in the list for the Virginia Beach resident, they still have plenty of work to do in this race. For now, Florida State — the school that beat OSU for 2017 defensive tackle
Marvin Wilson— is in the driver’s seat with 100 percent of the predictions for Mitchell,
according to the 247Sports Crystal Ball.
Smith, Bolton get visits
Switching gears to the hardwood, Ohio State basketball had assistant coach Chris Jent down in West Virginia to check on some hoops talent.
According to Chip Miller of
ZagsBlog.com, one of the prospects that Jent checked on was newly reclassified ‘17 small forward
Chris Smith of Huntington Prep (WV).
Smith is a four-star prospect who originally hails from Texas. With two commits already in the fold for 2017, center
Kaleb Wesson and point guard
Braxton Beverly, we will see if anything develops here. But for now, Ohio State has yet to make major waves for Smith outside of yesterday’s visit.
According to Julius Kim of
PhenomHoopReport.com, Ohio State was also at the school to see ‘18 PG
Rasir Bolton, a 6-foot-3, 170-pounder. Bolton is a three-star prospect in the class and holds ten offers, however, Ohio State is not one of them at this time.
Furthermore, Bolton is graded as the 164th best player in 2018, the 32nd best player at the point guard position and the fourth highest graded player from the state of Virginia.
