The Buckeyes are in the mix for numerous top junior recruits.

While Ohio State might’ve not landed a verbal commitment over the holiday weekend, the Buckeyes still found a way to get their name in the recruiting headlines.

Before you can land a pledge you have to be among a recruit’s leaders. Over the past few days, Urban Meyer’s crew definitely became one step closer to adding to their list of future Buckeyes playmakers. Finding themselves already among the leaders to land a long list of soon-to-be senior recruits, three more class of 2018 prospects announced the Buckeyes are still in the running for their commitment.

On Saturday, a pair of junior recruits announced their top college list with the Buckeyes mentioned.

Four-star offensive lineman Barton Clement (Missouri City, TX / Fort Bend Marshall) took time out of his day with family and love ones to share a picture of his current headliners: Ohio State, Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma and Michigan:

S/o to @Sports_UpdateIG for the edit on my top schools pic.twitter.com/WBOnOvalRz

— Barton Clement (@King_Barton101) December 24, 2016

The Buckeyes are putting pressure on the Longhorn State; at the moment, Clement has around a dozen scholarship offers, and is thought to be leaning towards staying closer to his Missouri City, Texas home base.

Soon after the 6-foot-2, 305-pound blocker announced his leaders, four-star running back Iverson Clement (Mount Holly, NJ / Rancocas Valley) took to his Twitter page to let the world know he is highly considering suiting up on the next level at either Ohio State, Michigan, Rutgers, Florida, Tennessee or Penn State.

Top 6 schools that me and family and coaches will be focusing on and will try to attend there Junioir day still open but for now this is my6 pic.twitter.com/8SzfzfGF1f

— Iverson Clement (@Swaggy__ai) December 25, 2016

Earning his offer from the Buckeyes in November, the New Jersey product made a trip to the OSU campus just days later and has been feeling what the Meyer and crew has to offer ever since.

Per the 247Sports Composite Rankings, Clement, who rushed for over 1,400 yards and 19 touchdowns as a junior at Rancocas Valley High School in Mt. Holly, NJ., is currently considered the 21st athlete, and 284th overall prospect in the class of 2018.

After becoming one step closer to adding a pair of elite recruits on Saturday the Buckeyes had another key recruit formally let it be known that Ohio State is still in the mix to potentially land their signature on the dotted line.

On Christmas day, five-star 2018 offensive lineman Jackson Carman (Fairfield, OH / Fairfield) had some college football fans thinking he would commit to a college program. That didn’t happen. Instead the U.S. Army All-American let his top 10 out to the public:

Merry Christmas ‼️ Here is my top 10 pic.twitter.com/la5XFlhCmB

— Jackson Carman (@Jackthejiant) December 25, 2016

Pegged as an OSU lean for quite awhile, Carmen is taking a hard look at not just Ohio State, but also has interest in Clemson, Alabama, LSU, Tennessee, Florida, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Wisconsin and USC.

Taking in multiple games at Ohio State, Carmen had the following to say after watching JT Barrett, Mike Weber, Sam Hubbard, Malik Hooker and the rest of the Buckeyes defeat the Badgers, 30-23.

“Ohio State, even though they're young is just so spectacular to watch because they play like vets. They've yet to succumb to the average young team traits like inexperience or underdevelopment,” Jackson stated to Land-Grant Holy Land on the Buckeyes come from behind win over Wisconsin in October.

Even though Ohio State has made Carman a top priority on the recruiting trail, we’ll have to wait a little longer to see what colors he will don on the college level. Stick with Land-Grant Holy Land for the latest.

Local Christmas Traditions

that's my tradition for winning National Championships. I might have to travel a few miles to find some for this year.
True story: when I was in High School somebody in the year book team was taking down Christmas traditions, and just made "making snow angels butt naked" as one of mine because they wanted to be mean to me, which I can't even picture why. So. . . hence the tradition began.

Merry Christmas, indeed.

Merry Christmas (and Happy Chanukah to our chosen brethren) from all your friends at Land-Grant Holy Land. If you’re reading this on a brand new laptop, tablet, or smart phone, allow us to be the first to say, “LUCKY!” (/extremely Napoleon Dynamite voice).

Whether you’re celebrating the holidays, enjoying time away from the hustle and bustle with loved ones, or being a bit of a grinch -- we’ve all been there! — we’re thrilled you decided to spend even a few minutes of your Christmas Day with us at the Holy Land.

Those of you who’ve been reading us since the beginning know we have a series called “Why Is This News?”. It runs each weekday usually between 4:30 and 6 p.m. ET.

The premise is simple: We riff off three to five quotes to know, linking/crediting the source of those talking points and writing about what they mean for Ohio State fans. We close things with some silly off-topic links we call “STICK TO SPORTS”. It’s one of our most popular and well received regular pieces.

Well, what with it being Christmas and all, we figured what better time than to do a bit of a spin on WITN? (as we’re known to abbreviate it) and remix it with a little bit of an Advent Calendar flair? Unfortunately there’s not exactly a lot of news, news happening as the Buckeyes get ready to make their way to Phoenix to take on Clemson December 31 and with the holidays and all.

We’ll try and keep it light and fun accordingly, mixing sports and non-sports, and hey, maybe if you like what you see, you can come back each week night and take in more? Deal?

Happy holidays again. Thanks for your continued support of Land-Grant Holy Land.

And sack No. 9.5 for @jbbigbear ¯\_(ツ)_/¯#SDvsCLE #ChargeOn https://t.co/yXWnH51owA

— San Diego Chargers (@Chargers) December 24, 2016

Former Ohio State standout Joey Bosa was back on the field in the great state of Ohio for the first time since the 2015 Michigan State debacle. He capped off his first Christmas Eve as a pro appropriately with two sacks and five more tackles to go with it.

While his first ever trip to the Dogpound didn’t go exactly as planned, the outcome did guarantee the Browns wouldn’t join the 2008 Detroit Lions as the only teams to go winless in NFL history. Another win for Ohio over Michigan, no?

Bosa’s rookie year has all but put him in the driver’s seat for the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year award. You’ve certainly heard of the guy likely a mortal lock for the offensive award too.

For all the on the field highs of the Urban Meyer era, recruiting analysts have been pretty uniform in stating it wasn’t the College Football Playoff national championship that’s most benefitted the Ohio State recruiting industrial complex; it’s the explosion of the number of guys drafted and their subsequent success in the pros that’s helping ensure more and more future supertalents head to Central Ohio.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from our own Elflein...

...on a shelf.@elflein65 pic.twitter.com/wGcQBPqUDn

— Ohio State Football (@OhioStateFB) December 25, 2016

If you’re lucky enough to have kids, were any of yours fortunate enough to get their very own The Elflein on The Shelf?

Ohio State football took to Twitter bright and early Sunday morning to give everyone some holiday cheer with the above great video featuring Rimington Trophy winner Pat Elflein.

Elflein, one of the “Loyal 11”, who honored their Ohio State commitments after the tattoo-for-bartering scandal culminated in the firing of then head coach Jim Tressel, had quite the Buckeye career. From lowest rated prospect in his class, to national champion, to the most decorated center in the country after not having played center primarily any of his previous seasons in scarlet and gray.

The Buckeye captain’s personality helps showcase why he’s such a force in the locker room. Whenever OSU’s 2016-17 playoff run comes to an end, Elflein will be one of a number of upperclassmen we’ll miss dearly.

“That’s the first thing you think about when you wake up,” Lewis said. “I’m thinking ‘Dominate’ as soon as I wake up.”

-Tyquan Lewis to Tim May, Columbus Dispatch

Even with the holidays here, with the looming challenge of a rematch of the 2014 Orange Bowl just on the horizon, it's impossible to get Ohio State football players' thoughts too far from the task at hand.

Buckeye football players get the morning to themselves but have to report back to The Woody (aka the Woody hayes Athletic Center) in order to get everything in order for a Monday flight to Phoenix's Sky Harbor International Airport.

As the venerable Tim May outlines, even when spending time with family and friends, Buckeye football players fill the gaps by watching film on their iPads or trying to visualize how they’ll do their jobs when the situation calls for it as the No. 2 seeded Tigers attempt to return to their second straight national title game and the Bucks seek to upend them to make their second in three seasons.

New Year’s Eve can’t get here soon enough.

Repeater Infrared Remote Control

So, I'm trying to hide the wires coming out of my wall hung big screen. Has anyone used a repeater infrared remote control setup to be able to put the box out of the way so no wires needed? if so, recommendations on brand, etc.

Also, is it possible to use one box for watching shows on multiple tvs using a repeater on multiple TVs?

Something like this? Login to view embedded media
I have one of these as well as a couple of other things that I've used over the years. I did have an IR repeater for a while. The smallish receiver converted the IR to a radio signal on the first floor and there was a second small box with all the components in the basement that deconverted the signal and blasted the IR at the devices. That worked pretty well, but it was like close to 10 years ago that I used it. It worked well for keeping things clean.

Also I had an URC http://www.universalremote.com/ that was radio to IR as well. It worked very well for very long range.

That said, the Logitech in the first link is pretty awesome. Can be used with IFTT... connects to wifi as well, so I can turn down the damn TV from my phone anywhere. On that note, it's connected to a multi zone receiver and it's useful for controlling the outdoor zone while we're outside. With my mesh network I can be 200 ft out in the back hard and adjust volume which is kinda cool.

Net net, I'm not sure if the Logitech is exactly state of the art... but it's a pretty damn solid system and was significantly less cost than the URC system I have in a box... tons easier to program and tons more functionality.

Hope this helps.
