Juke Audio / Sonos

So, anyone using Juke or Sonos (or other) in their homes?

As many of you know, my wife and I left Chicagoland for Lake Norman area in NC last fall. Purchased a home that was built in 2006. Exactly the floor plan we wanted (all bedrooms first floor because we're getting old and decrepit), 2.3 acre wooded lot, a heard of deer that hangs out on our property... can walk to the lake and 15 minute drive to get to the boat.

One of the things that was here was an old Legrand / Lyriq system that included 10-rooms with ceiling speakers, home security, intercoms... (https://www.homecontrols.com/homeco...YinAnAfhyQ2NTrg_wYzQEpo70_021fSMPOYfAP4hsV98n). Totally state of the art for 2006.

Anyhow, the previous owners didn't really use or keep the system in good working order. I ended up pulling the crap out of the wire closet (it was two full panels). I have my own security stuff through Apple HomeKit+Aqara... but I wanted to keep the speakers. Candidly, across 10 rooms there is over $7500 in Klipsch hardware that was wasting.

Ended up getting a low voltage guy to come in to run wires back to my AV closet from each of the rooms. The old system used in-room key-pads which have been removed and drywalled over.

Got it all done last night and hooked up two Juke Audio servers (6-rooms each so needed two) and it's frick'n incredible. From any device on the same network I can Airplay2 to any room and with Airplay2 it also will broadcast to any traditional receiver on the same network with Airplay2. Holy hell, I'm impressed.

Anyone else out there messing around with this kind of stuff? I'm in love with technology all over again!

2026-27 Ohio State Men's Basketball

The guys transferring out were all tOSU recruits, and couple were Mr. Ohio. Have (still) like to see freshmen commit to a school, develop and play meaningful minutes. However, seems to be a thing of the past. Now, tOSU appears to be window-shopping for depth, and as noted above, some rotational players. So, we'll get some carpetbaggers coming in, and in all likelihood, not the best and brightest, who won't sign up unless see a path to starting, and a 'bag' that is big enough to make it worthwhile. Read an article on 'best' portal players, and only a couple would fit the Ohio State needs (IMHO). Plus methinks the price tag might be a tad high. Does anyone know what the Xichigan price was on their transfers? Certainly paid off for them, obviously.

Pittsburgh Pirates (5x WS Champions) Ain't Nutting happenin'

i really think this team might have something - they may falter and are going to have some bad stretches, but i really think they have something. Pirates fans expected the pitching to be solid, which for the most part it has been, but the new additions (minus Ozuna) have produced, KG while being still young and not setting the world on fire, is going to be just fine, hitting the ball hard, those will produce hits eventually, solid D from him. Outfield cannot make a play to save our lives (other than O'Hearn) - but i think that will resolve. Buctober is coming!

Cincinnati Reds (2026 Season Thread)

Reds committed their first error of the year... on a bullshit interference / obstruction call on Matt McClain.

Reds tie the game in the 9th via ridiculous Elly base running.

Reds blow it out in the 10th, winning 6-2. McClain has his revenge in the process, leading off the rally in the 9th with a double, and then hitting another one to plate 2 runs in the 10th.

Look Who's Transferring Now (The Basketball Portal)

That’s fair but it just speaks to backwards prioritization and resources. Even just as a program image.

I’m sure he’s not going to make much more than a scholarship + entry level salary but go fill spots 10-13 or whatever in May or June or whenever the portal ends. We sure seem to only get “end of bench spots” that turn into Gabe Cupps getting Big Ten minutes.

Other teams will be hosting difference makers or who knows a potential Big Ten Player of the Year (hello Yaxel) and this is our first swing.
Again if this guy was anything but an end of a bench guy I'd agree, but he's not. And it literally doesn't matter if it's the first swing or last swing, when you find someone who fits a role, you fill the role. Your argument makes zero sense.

Doing differently to wait for "bigger" swings is illogical. That's not what this guy is being brought in for...
