2025 scUM Shenanigans, Arguments, etc.

Updates from premierdrum:

We've nearly reached the end of (this chapter of) the saga.
I've been laying a bit lower, due to several sources clamming up since the days leading into the COI hearing and general dickbaggery being perpetuated against myself and my family by our northern "neighbors."
But still... an interesting group chat popped in tonight, posing the question-
Who will be acting as head coach for UM:
Week #2 vs. Oklahoma
Week #9 vs. Sparty
Week #14 vs. OSU,
and
How many different names are on that list?
We already know Sharon will be suspended for multiple games this season (2 self-imposed in weeks 3 and 4, allegedly), and I believe that will likely to escalate to a full season suspension + a multi-year show-cause.
Wink.
Biff? (whose hands are dirtier than a nursing home lobbyist).
Benedict Alford (this was probably his play, but I don't think he's topping any lists).
Whatever shards of character remain clinging to Warde will dissolve as soon as the COI's report is published, and his boss has an "interim" tag. How soon before someone lights a match on that cesspool and starts over from scratch?
It's coming. And we all get to watch it happen as the defending National Champions.
Glory days, indeed.

Holy hell, we've touched a nerve.
Flooded inbox. Red Cedar peppered with nonsense. Connor defending himself on Twitter.
You know that part in Jurassic Park where the rings show up on the glass of water?
I think we're there.

A plane crash

Just sayin': If you get the Smithsonian Channel or Paramount+ they have a great series titled Air Disasters.

"Air Disasters" is the general term for a popular documentary series that investigates major aircraft accidents, their causes, and the subsequent changes implemented to improve aviation safety.

Paramount Press Express | Smithsonian Channel™ is set to premiere its 18th season of Air Disasters on Sunday, September 25 at 8/9c.

Florida Gators (official thread)

You have to wonder if the UF academics do not pay any attention to the sports media.
I don't know about sports media, but I'm sure there were some interesting conversations about the creepy jock-sniffing and shameless self promoting. I'm sure colleagues at tsun filled a lot of them in on what to expect.

MLB General Discussion (Official Thread)

Brewers' Jacob Misiorowski is NL All-Star after 5 starts

Misiorowski was named Friday night to replace Chicago Cubs lefty Matthew Boyd, who will be unavailable for the All-Star Game on Tuesday night in Atlanta because he is scheduled to start Saturday at the New York Yankees.

The 23-year-old Misiorowski has made just five starts for the Brewers, going 4-1 with a 2.81 ERA while averaging 99.3 mph on his fastball, with 89 pitches that have reached 100 mph.

Hey, MLB, if we’re letting guys with five games into the All-Star Game, can I go too? I’ve only got 25 fewer career innings pitched than this kid and unlike him my ERA is 0.00.

Just sayin': In case you hadn't guessed it, Misiorowski has pitched just 25.1 innings.

Police/Legal Blotter (Quit breaking the law!)

Auburn star Tahaad Pettiford arrested on DUI charge

Auburn star Tahaad Pettiford, an SEC Player of the Year contender in 2025-26, was arrested early Saturday morning on a DUI charge in Lee County, Alabama, according to jail logs.

Pettiford was released midday, a source told ESPN, and is no longer listed as an inmate on the jail's log.

"We are aware of the situation, and we will handle it internally with Tahaad and his family," Auburn coach Bruce Pearl said in a statement to ESPN on Saturday. "We take these matters seriously and will learn and grow from it moving forward."

The 19-year-old's arrest on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol comes just weeks after he withdrew from the NBA draft. Pettiford, who averaged 11.6 PPG in his freshman season for an Auburn team that secured the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA tournament and reached the Final Four, is the cornerstone of Auburn's next chapter after the departure of star Johni Broome.

Following his withdrawal from the draft, Pettiford said he returned to Auburn in part to prove that he can compete at the next level.

"I was happy to go through the process, getting feedback from NBA teams," Pettiford told ESPN then. "Going back to Auburn is a better situation for me. I see myself being a higher pick next year. It wasn't 100% this year, so I didn't want to take that chance."

Although he didn't receive the same buzz as some of the top freshmen in the country during the 2024-25 season, Pettiford was widely viewed as one of the best young players in the country.

Cincinnati Reds (2025 is our year! Haha thats actually funny)

Bums.

Fire sale!

Guys who will be FA next year (all should be traded):
Nick Martinez
Taylor Rogers
Emilio Pagan
Austin Hays (technically a mutual option but those are never used, he's a FA)

All should have some value and we have plenty of pitching depth to eat innings in the back half of another lost year.

2027 FA's (decision time):
Singer
Stephenson
Fraley
Lux
Espinal

A bunch of "meh" right there. Espinal has the most value if used properly imo. Singer is a very reliable innings eater. Personally, I'm so sick of watching Stephenson, Fraley and Lux (among many others) I could puke.

2028 FA's (maybe do something with this group to shake things up?):
Lodolo
Moll
Gibaut
Conner Joe

Last two are worthless as a cock flavored lollipop but the first two are good players.

Big picture nothing will change much, imo. All this franchise can do is stick with it's build-through-draft-and-develop model. Lots of ups and downs to that. The pitching is strong and deep but the next wave of potential help on offense is down at AA.

It's going to take a FA or two and a trade or two to fix this current mess but we all know they won't do that.
