Re: the commissioner protecting the shield, I’d be astounded if Sorsby isn’t blackballed from the NFL, although likely silently behind the scenes to avoid a lawsuit. The NFL is probably the third most venal major entity in sports (behind FIFA and the IOC), but I don’t think they’ll take any risk on this guy.
So Browns?

2027 OH WR Jamier Brown is a Buckeye!!!

Brown did not name the schools that tried to use this tactic to entice him, although he should have. That's an incredibly unethical way to land a recruit. Not only is that degrading to the women who are being offered up, but it's degrading to Brown to think that he would be swayed by such a tactic.

Obviously, Brown turned down those offers. He has stayed loyal to the Ohio State Buckeyes for a year and a half at this point. It doesn't look like any school has a chance to flip him. He's an Ohio kid, and he knows how well the Buckeyes do developing receivers, even without Hartline on staff.

A kid like Brown should keep an old guy like me on payroll to be the buffer against all that degrading stuff.

A degradation consultant if you will.

Y'all can take him in the NFL if ya want... The Commissioner will protect the shield. Right now, there's nobody looking out for CFB or college athletics in general.

I had an interesting chance meeting yesterday. I crossed paths with the dad of one of TTUs basketball players. Suffice it to say, a starter... dad wasn't just talking his kid up. The kid is likely going to be drafted.

Anyhow, sharing that background as this guy knows a LOT of people in the AD, including Hocutt... well. His perspective, and in general, I agree, was (paraphrasing in my words), "Kids do stupid things, (I'd) like to think that there's opportunities for second chances, but there has to be consequences for the choices he made. A 2-game suspension is not a 'consequence' in line with what he did."

I didn't dive into much beyond that as the conversation steered to the fact that his son had / has a casual friendly relationship with Sorsby as many athletes are tight having lived in the bubble of D1 athletics. After this all came out, kid and dad spoke about it. Apparently Sorsby shot him some text messages about putting a few extra in the bucket against the Bearcats. When dad heard that he asked to verify all the communications between them. I imagine that he has full documentation and records of those communications in a CYA folder. Anyhow, this is all to say, from my first hand discussion, it does not seem as though everyone at TTU is interested in carrying the water for this chump and the mess he created for everyone down there.

Candidly, for everyone involved -- and that includes US as fans of CFB -- the fact that Sorsby is going into the supplemental is a very good thing. We do not want this blight in CFB. Y'all can take him in the NFL if ya want... The Commissioner will protect the shield. Right now, there's nobody looking out for CFB or college athletics in general.

Bryce "L" Underwood (QB ttun, for now)

The OL from Rice was as close as I can think of.

A couple of transfers have been underwhelming but I wouldn't call them "busts".
... and even that one apparently was good enough to be drafted... 7th round, granted, but still got drafted after riding pine for a year. Bit of a head scratcher, but I have to imagine that it was entirely based on measurables.

I personally would like to know what exactly the Cincinnati athletic department knew about Sorsby’s gambling and when they knew it. I’m not one to shit on my alma mater, but I don’t think they should get a pass just because he entered the portal before the story broke. I hope President Neville Pinto is looking into this behind the scenes, but I‘m guessing he plans to let that sleeping dog lie.

2027 MS OL Caden Moss (Verbal Offer)

Buckeyes left an impression on an elite offensive tackle whose a Ole Miss lean

Ohio State welcomed in high four-star Jackson Academy (MS) OT Caden Moss for an official visit the last couple of days. The Buckeyes made their pitch to the Mississippi native and it sounds like things went well.

“The OV was good,” Moss said via Rivals. “I’m excited about potentially being a part of a championship team.”

It sounds like Moss is giving the Buckeyes a chance here and the door is at least open. Ole Miss is the favorite for Moss, but Ohio State has a lot to offer in development and potential to play early in his career. According to 247 Sports Composite, Moss is the No. 7 offensive tackle in the class of 2027, and the No. 72 player nationally.

Former Ohio State linebacker Steele Chambers drops truth bomb about Bryce Underwood

While appearing on the Bobby Carpenter Show, Chambers gave his thoughts on Underwood as a quarterback.

"You've got all the evidence from games last year where he didn't perform. "You've got Michigan fans that were cannibalizing him right after the spring game, before Eric Weddle ever brought these comments up, and now you've got a legitimate Hall of Famer player really confirming all that stuff that Michigan fans were talking about. It's not looking good for him, but whatever. Buckeyes."

Obviously, Chambers is a biased observer when talking about this. He will always talk trash about Michigan when given the opportunity. However, he is right..... TTUN fans were worried about Underwood's development after he had a poor performance at the spring game.

Bryce Underwood shouldn't have chased the money

Before Underwood decided to flip his commitment from LSU to TTUN, Underwood was asked why he didn't pick Michigan, despite being from the state. Underwood went on to say that Michigan doesn't develop quarterbacks. Then, TTUN offered him a boatload of money, and he changed his tune....

It's pretty clear that he made the wrong decision picking the Wolverines. Had he stayed with the Tigers, he could have gotten some better coaching. TTUN hasn't developed a good quarterback, really, ever in their history. Tom Brady was a sixth-round pick, so it's not like Michigan helped him out.

2027 OH DB Monsanna Torbert (Indiana Decommit)

Ohio State can remind Kyle Whittingham who owns the Big Ten by landing 4-star CB

Will the Buckeyes be able to land the touted playmaker?

Ohio State is hoping to land 4-star CB Monsanna Torbert over Michigan and others

As we've said time and time again, Day is never going to want to let elite in-state talent leave home. With the drive from Cincinnati to Columbus being around 90 minutes, compared to almost four hours to Ann Arbor, you've got to figure that'd give Ohio State a bit of an advantage here. Day can sell the youngster on playing close to home, with family and friends being able to watch him in action much easier.

As for Michigan, it's looking to work some magic here too, as the 5-10, 160-pounder is set to take his official visit to the UM campus on June 19. Back-to-back weekends at Ohio State and Michigan sure makes this recruiting race a bit more intriguing.

At one point, Torbert was Indiana-bound, giving Curt Cignetti his verbal pledge. However, the Ohio product decided to open up his recruitment, which was obviously welcomed news for OSU fans. Now, the Buckeyes are upping their efforts in trying to land him this time around, though Michigan and others are hoping to make things difficult.

According to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, Torbert is ranked four stars, the No. 13 cornerback in the country, No. 5 player out of Ohio, and No. 102 prospect nationally for the 2027 class. He currently holds 34 offers to his name, which speaks to how highly touted of a playmaker he is. This is of course all something Day knows and understands.

Thus far for the '27 haul, Ohio State is up to 13 commits, highlighted of course by 5-star EDGE DJ Jacobs and 5-star wide receiver Jamier Brown. Interestingly enough, there are no cornerbacks on the list yet, which is why the Buckeyes are making Torbert a top priority moving forward. For his official visit, Day is going to have to turn his head in the best way possible.

This is something Whittingham will look to do next weekend too, as he knows there's going to be extra pressure to match what Ohio State gets done. We'll give credit to Whittingham, as he's been on fire landing commits for the Wolverines. However, Day and Co. can serve him up some humble pie by getting things over the line with Torbert. Should that happen, it will be a key reminder for Michigan that Ohio State still has a bit of power over them both on and off the field.
