OL Kirk Barton (Don't tase me Bro!)

As an acquaintance there is very little you could do. You are in no way responsible.

Those who interacted with him daily probably should have tried to intervene. Such as his business partner, Nevada Buck who had to notice his drinking, especially when podcasts were cancelled because Kirk was too intoxicated. He had at least the opportunity to threaten a partnership break up unless he got help, and even broken it off for the sake of Kirk.
Ken is only looking out for one person,….Ken.

The US Open is noted for their outrageous rough. More like a wheat field if you stray from the fairway. Puts an emphasis on hitting the ball straight, but not even the pros can do that every shot (mostly though). This year, what, a minus 1 won the whole thing? Usually we're seeing a -17-20 winning the tournament? When those guys are shooting high numbers, you know the course is tough. PS, does anyone remember that Oakmont used to be noted for their flags - not flags, but wicker baskets in the holes? I seem to, but memory is hazy. Father told me that was so, so the players couldn't tell which way wind was blowing on the green. And the US Open is noted for the first day leader being some club pro from someplace no one has heard from, but fading in the final rounds....How did Moldova do? Couldn't find.
Merion uses the wicker baskets, not Oakmont.

Game Thread Texas at tOSU, Sat. Aug. 30th, 12pm ET, FOX

Just got 2 tickets for Texas from the alumni presale this morning. Haven't been to the Shoe since the Baker Mayfield game which means I haven't seen them win at home since UC during the national title year (have seen them win at NW, IU, PU, RU, UMaryland since).
Hey buddy. Why don't you go ahead and not go to any more home games. Thanks.

MLB: Seattle Mariners at Arizona Diamondbacks

The former 8th-round pick has forced himself into the Seattle Mariners’ starting lineup.

Two weeks after getting called back up to the big leagues, former Ohio State baseball star and First Team All-Big Ten honoree Dominic Canzone is tearing the cover off the baseball for the Seattle Mariners. The left-handed hitting outfielder hit another home run last night in the Mariners’ 11-2 win over the Minnesota Twins — one day after belting two homers during a 14-6 win over the first-place Chicago Cubs.

For those keeping track at home, that’s three homers in two games, giving him 18 total for his career over 139 career games spread between the Diamondbacks and the Mariners.

Canzone had a slow start to the season this year, hitting .209 with a .639 OPS in spring training this season with the Mariners and then going 0-for-3 with two strikeouts in the first two games of the season. Canzone was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma on April 13, and over the next 45 games Canzone hit .296 with 13 homers, 36 RBI’s, and a .924 OPS.

Despite only playing 45 games in the minors, Canzone’s 13 homers is the ninth-most in the Pacific Coast League, and his .924 OPS would rank seventh in the PCL if he had played enough games to qualify.

Since being recalled by the Mariners on June 9, the 6-foot tall outfielder from Sagamore Hills, Ohio is hitting .333 with a 1.107 OPS, four home runs, and seven RBI. He’s limited his strikeouts, only punching out four times in 36 at bats — a miniscule 11% strikeout rate.

The advanced metrics back up Canzone’s performance this season — his expected batting average (xBA) stands at .287, which is better than league average. His expected slugging percentage (.479), average exit velocity (91.3 mph), and squared-up percentage (34.5%) are all better than league average as well.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson said that Canzone’s consistency and aggressiveness at the plate is what has made him valuable to the team after spending the majority of the season at Triple-A thus far.

“I think in terms of Dom, the consistency was there right now,” Wilson said after the Mariners beat Cleveland on June 13. “And so far in the couple of games he’s had an opportunity to play in, his intent has been very aggressive and the consistency has been there. He’s found the barrel a couple of times and is really hitting the ball well. That’s what you’re hoping for, and that’s what he’s been able to do.”

Canzone was a .336 career hitter at Ohio State from 2017-2019, and has established himself as a reliable option for the Mariners this season, especially against right-handed pitching. All four of his homers have come against right-handers, and with Seattle set to face right-handed pitchers in each of their next five games, Canzone should continue to get plenty of at-bats for the Mariners, who currently hold the final AL Wild Card spot, and would be the 6-seed in the American League if the season ended Monday night.

'25 OH SG Dorian Jones (Ohio St. decommitt)

Seem to recollect that back in the day, D1 schools would stash players at a community college with ties to their university to get their academic ship in order. But that cost the recruit a year of eligibility, so they morphed to the prep school route in order to preserve that eligibility. Lost track of what's going on there, as big time schools not interested in wasting a schollie on someone who cannot cut it in the classroom. But there's always a university that without the academic requirements of, say a B10 school, that will grab that talent and put him in remedial classes (or somesuch bunny curriculum (curricului?). But yeah, he's gone.

2026 CA WR Chris Henry Jr. Is a Buckeye!!!

Thankfully, it appears (?) that tOSU's OL will be stout this year. Have four 'seasoned' OL guys, plus the addition of two proven OL guys. Should be able to mix and match, and present a decent front line, in order to handle the projected blitzing of a newbie QB. Would expect that the Buckeyes would be running some (many?) DL stunts, loops, and whatever else the DL uses to simulate pressure on Sayin/Kleinholz/St. Clair. Also good practice for the OL as well. Go Bucks! But yes! With a newbie QB, mostly the short throws are the easiest, and by sending the WRs long, Klare can do a block and release, finding the TE for 20+ yard gains up the middle. Forgot about him.....

2026 OH DL Jamir Perez is a Buckeye!!!

Probably will depend on which southern guys Florida lands at DL. Recollecting my own youth, trading in those greasy cheeseburgers (anyone else remember those 15 cent hamburgers (not from golden arches either) for some broiled chicken? Just got back from Lake Erie (with wife and daughter), and reacquianted myself with perch. Had it for five meals straight, and then upgraded to a walleye bowl (w/o fries, just more cole slaw). Gained 5 pounds easy. Back home now, and salads.
