You ask, we answer. Sometimes we ask, others answer. And then other times, we ask, we answer.

Throughout the
Ohio State football season, we will be asking and answering questions about the team, college football, and anything else on our collective minds of varying degrees of importance. If you have a question that you would like to ask, you can tweet us @LandGrant33 or if you need more than 280 characters, send an email HERE.

Believe it or not, even though Ohio State has only played two games, they are off this Saturday... just don’t call it a “bye week.” Ryan Day and his players are embracing this open date by calling it an “improvement week.” So, to stick with the theme, for our fan survey this week, we are going to ask about what you want to see OSU improve upon before they return to the field against Marshall.

Now obviously the one glaring area that we all would like to see dramatic strides is along the offensive line. However, since that is such a slam dunk, I am taking that one out of contention. So, look at the questions below and then make your picks in the survey at the bottom of the article. We will publish the results on Saturday morning before the day’s games kick off.

Also, if you want to vote for something not listed in the survey, feel free to chime in at the bottom of the page in the comments.

Question 1: The Buckeyes are calling this “Improvement Week,” so beyond the obvious offensive line play, what do you want to see them improve the most?

Let’s be honest, by excluding the offensive line, I’ve boxed myself into a bit of a corner, because I don’t know if there are many glaring areas that need massive improvements. Sure, you want to see incremental improvements every day for teams as they strive to hit peak performance as the playoffs draw near.

But in terms of major, glaring issues, it’s tough to come up with a long list. So, some of the options in the survey below are kind of nit-picking and one of them is fairly tongue-in-cheek. However, if you are going to have an open date just two weeks into the season, it almost feels like this is the week NFL teams have off between the end of their preseason schedules and the start of the regular season.

Lots of work still to be done as the meat of your schedule approaches at an increasing pace.

Question 2: After two games, how do you feel about the team’s championship potential this season?

Look, I’m already on record saying that, even though I picked the Buckeyes to go undefeated and win the national title, I think that the team has exceeded my expectations in nearly every imaginable area. Now, as evidenced by the phrasing of the question above, I obviously still have massive concerns about the offensive line and worry that the unit could upend the entire season, but beyond that, everything has looked pretty darn good so far.

As I referenced above, Will Howard has impressed me with his decision-making, escapability, and — at times — his arm strength. So, while I already had sky-high expectations, through two games, against admittedly subpar competition, I am even more amped for the Buckeyes’ than I was before the season started.

Now, if your opinion on OSU’s championship potential hasn’t changed one way or the other, I can respect that, but the one option that I cannot, and will not, accept is if you try to tell me that your opinion of the Buckeyes’ title odds has decreased over the past two games.

If you genuinely believe that, please let me know your rationale in the comments below, because I’ve got to hear the explanation of that lunacy.

Two of the Buckeyes’ 2025 commits also put together huge performances on Friday night.

Ohio State took care of business on the field on Saturday, easily knocking off its second-straight MAC foe in a 56-0 win over Western Michigan. In a matchup the Buckeyes were expected to win handily, it wasn’t a marquee weekend for recruiting visits, but any game day atmosphere in Columbus — especially a night game — still draws a crowd of prospects to town.

Starting in the current cycle, a small handful of Ohio State’s commits in the 2025 class were in attendance, including five-star quarterback Tavien St. Clair.

St. Clair, No. 2 QB and No. 2 overall player in the cycle per 247Sports, is seemingly on campus at every possible opportunity. It's a pretty easy trip for the crown jewel of the Buckeyes’ 2025 class, as he plays his prep ball about an hour northwest of Columbus, but it's great to see St. Clair so active with the program and helping out in the peer recruiting department as well.

Moving into 2026, two of the big names in town were four-star tight end Mack Sutter and four-star offense tackle Sam Greer. The 6-foot-6.5 Greer is an important in-state prospect for Ohio State in the junior cycle, ranked as the No. 13 OT nationally and the No. 6 player in Ohio per the 247Sports Composite. Sutter, meanwhile, made the trip to see the Buckeyes after traveling to Auburn last weekend. The Illinois native is the No. 5 TE and No. 109 prospect per the 247Sports Composite.

In the 2027 class, Ohio State hosted a pair of in-state offensive line prospects in tackles Reed Gerken and Mason Wilt. Both listed at around 6-foot-5, 290 pounds, Gerken plays his prep ball at Perrysburg, while Wilt is a St. Clairsville product. Neither guy is ranked yet as their cycle is still a ways away, but the Buckeyes and Justin Frye are clearly trying to make in-state linemen a priority early on.

Had a blast in the Shoe last night! Once again big thanks to @etwill21 for the invite and the great hospitality last night. Can't wait to be back and I'm forever greatful.@CoachJFrye @CoachSollenne @ryandaytime @N_Murph @parkerwereb8 pic.twitter.com/MpWSJ9pvzG

The visitor list didn’t stop there either, as 2028 quarterback Neimann Lawrence made the trip up from Florida to see the Buckeyes in action. Ryan Day has offered a pair of QBs in the 2028 class, and Lawrence is one of those guys, having earned the offer after throwing at an Ohio State recruiting camp this past June.

“I like the quarterbacks that they’ve developed,” Lawrence told Eleven Warriors after receiving his offer. “And they’ve really got some good things going on there. I can see myself there in the future, but my recruiting process is just starting. I have a long way to go.”

Quick Hits

  • Ohio State’s 2025 commits are back in action with the high school football season underway, and each week this group of former Buckeyes is putting together some highlight-reel worthy plays. On Friday, Quincy Porter and Bo Jackson were the ones that stole the show.

The Bergen Catholic star made a big play through the air, as Porter torched the defensive back en route to a 56-yard touchdown against Massillon. The 6-foot-3 receiver finished the game with six catches for 85 yards and a score, following up a dominant performance in his team’s loss against IMG Academy, wherein he totaled six catches for 132 yards and a TD.

The in-state kid Jackson, meanwhile, had a huge game for Villa Angela-St. Joseph. The running back exploded for over rushing 200 yards and three touchdowns in just the first half alone, showcasing his speed in the second level on this 35-yard TD run in the second quarter. Jackson is the No. 5 RB and No. 86 overall prospect per the 247Sports Composite.
