which is when the older brother can either pout or step up.Oneshot said:Seriously?? That's a joke, right?
That's like being the older brother in a 4 person family. Your younger brother misbehaves and is put on timeout. Your parents then proceed to tell EVERYONE that they think your younger brother is more promising than you.
That is demeaning in every sense of the word.
This does not say Smith will start the Texas game. This says that if nothing changes, Smith will probably be the starter. That sounds more like a challenge than a criciticism aimed towards Zwick.According to quarterbacks coach Joe Daniels, if things simply go the way they have been going, Smith would probably get the starting nod at quarterback against the Longhorns.
Envy, undiluted envy -- wish I could be certain of that -- this tOSU vs UT game is going to be one hot ticket. Had feelers out -- but no sellers.BuckeyeNation27 said:eh.....who cares. i wont be watching on TV
I personally _still_ put a higher level of trust in ABC's ability to handle the real story of that day -- the game itself. The dipshits at you know where, from Bristhole, CT are another matter entirely.Or the ABC crew? The Buckeyes' share of the pre-game show will now be devoted to last year's scandals. With Zwick as the announced starter (even if he only plays the first series) at least there would have been some footage of him playing through pain to beat Ok St. Now, the entire pre-game, 12 solid minutes before a huge national audience, will be divided equally between Vince Young's Heisman candidacy and Troy Smith's willful, blatant violation of the most basic rule in college sports. Nice contrast.
You do know that ABC is the corporate big brother to ESPiN, since they're both owned by Disney, right? They often share announcers, and are far from a separate entity.sandgk said:I personally _still_ put a higher level of trust in ABC's ability to handle the real story of that day -- the game itself. So you're saying that if you put in your heart and soul effort into getting that starting job, done nothing wrong for the team except missing a couple passes, and then fight tooth and nail in the bowl game to try to prove your worth, and then your coach says that your misbehaving counterpart will get the job, you wouldn't be disheartened (to say the least)?strohs said:To you maybe (wuss :) ), but obviously not to some of us.
BuckeyeFROMscUM said:Yes but Jack Arute and Danielson are a heck of a lot more fair than most people from ESPiN (other than Kirk & Herbie).
Of course its a morale killer. No one is saying it isn't. I guess now we get to learn of JZ mental toughness. Can he come in and take the starting spot?Oneshot said:So you're saying that if you put in your heart and soul effort into getting that starting job, done nothing wrong for the team except missing a couple passes, and then fight tooth and nail in the bowl game to try to prove your worth, and then your coach says that your misbehaving counterpart will get the job, you wouldn't be disheartened (to say the least)?
I don't know, maybe I was raised soft (I don't think I was), but that is just a morale killer.
It depends on what Daniels actually said. The O-zone gave a characterization, but they didn't give any quotes. If it was basically just the inverse of what Tressel said last year (If the season started today, Troy would start, but that determination is still open), then it's not that big a deal and should be taken as motivation. If, as the O-zone made it sound, he basically said that Troy has the job locked up barring a fairly drastic change, then I'd be inclined to agree with OneShot and some of the others.FritoBandito said:How would you feel if you were Justin Zwick today?
