Zion Branch (DB USC Trojans)

same night as the new USC CB…not sure what the timing of these two things signifies, but if there’s any merit to the CB’s, they would have told OSU “thanks but no thanks” to their faces tonight, no? Unless they pulled a Lincoln Riley and lied to their faces…or those CB’s from an MSU insider are just complete and utter BS

UPDATE: Riley and USC supposedly getting the last word, visiting Branch one day after Ryan Day’s house call

Southern California vs Columbus Ohio is a tough sell other than Ohio State. Adding a competent coaching staff over there makes things really tough for those kids.

For me, as an adult, I hate California but I've lived to learn that.

And the amount of NIL money in SoCal....USC could be a real force when their punters start making 7 figures (a little exaggerated maybe but you get the idea)

Well if the coaches are thinking from a business perspective, they’d point out how much higher the taxes are in SoCal, while also showing how much potential for NIL there is in CBus, of which we all know there is plenty. Its just not as flashy

You're talking about 18-21yo young men. Flashy is more what many care about, not taxes.

Pnuts34, if you're talking flashy, you're talking Southern Cal. Just drive in the slow lane of the 405, and you'll see millions of dollars worth of exotic automobiles pass you by.....the mansions, the beaches, you name it. Add that to a Song girl hanging on your arm, showing you the USC campus. Have been there, it's impressive. Tradition is as strong as ours is as well. Lots of plusses there that would sway a 18 year old country boy a tad.

Oh I know everything that you're saying and that's why I said as much!
And yes, spent a week out there this summer. Stayed in San Pedro, but traveled all over, and even toured the campus and went by the Coliseum. Its impressive if they get winning. But they're a front running fan base, as are the recruits. If they don't win, no one will come

actually think the NIL money in Columbus would be better. in LA you have the Lakers, Dodgers, Kings, Rams, Chargers, Clippers and Galaxy. Why throw money at an 18 year old to endorse when you have all the other glitz?

Not to mention no one gives a flip about football out there.
They do when they win! Pete Carrol can attest to that
And so can Sean McVay when the Rams were good and went to the SB

There’s enough money in that city to throw at 18yos. If Tuscaloosa and Eugene can find the money I can assume the 2nd biggest city in the country could. Which should scare CFB if Lincoln gets it rolling. But the question will be if he can ever field a defense. That’s where the difference was with Carrol

Yes. Riley brought Alex Grinch with him that's enough to ensure his first 2 years are a crap shoot.

Difference between Pete and Riley is Pete had a level of toughness to his teams that Riley will never have.

Think of those USC defenses from 2002-2009 and they were insane.

Bro, you’re not lying. Sickest talent on teams since Miamis heyday. And yeah, totally agree on level of toughness. Could be interesting seeing the battles between Chip and Lincoln, as well as Mario in Eugene.

But I’m curious to see the options if Zion goes elsewhere. Because with the defensive coaches in the air, I wonder where we go. I’m not as worried about losing little bro, as Hartline can always find talent

Im not saying the money isn’t there…I am saying you have better options to spend it in LA than you do in say Columbus. if i have 5 mil to waste on an athlete to endorse my product Im calling Mookie Betts or LeBron James or Cooper Cupp before I call a college kid.

Or you could call any real pro athlete regardless of their area...
