Zach Smith (Official Thread)

Also I wouldn't say Tressel's offenses completely sucked. He was trying to play a different type of game than Meyer. The clinic that Dantonio put on us in the BTCG was the quintessential Tressel game. Wear the other team down and eat up the clock. Urban just wants to go as fast as possible and score as quickly as possible.

The problem was that Tressel never seemed to have good offensive lines. However considering that we have great RB's and offensive line, maybe Urban would be better off taking a Tressel approach this year
It would be the perfect approach... it'll never happen... but I would love to see us do that

New OC, new QB coach, and WRs still can't get open... I'm sensing yet another position coach hire by seasons end if this doesn't improve..

If you see the games live, guys are open. JT doesn't see them, and when he does, the ball is late and the defender has a chance to close. I have been saying for 3 years it is not the WR group. Look at the past 2 years. We have had Thomas, Miller, Marshall, Vannett, Brown, and Samuel all make NFL rosters. Those guys were supposed to be part of the "problem". I am calling bullshit. Same for this years group. Hill and Campbell will play on Sundays, and possibly some of the other younger guys too. There is a reason why Corey Smith tweeted what he did and there are rumors about Zone 6 being aggravated about receiving criticism because they know the blame lies more on JT than them.

I know I scream in the stands "throw the damn ball" at least 8 times a game about a second and a half before JT releases it.

Tell me how many times in the past three years you have seen a ball in the air before the WR makes his break? It never happens. He never just cuts it loose on time. Ever. IT is so frustrating to watch. THROW THE FUCKING BALL.

I hear you, but it also doesn't help that the WRs are having a very hard time actually catching. I have a hard time seeing Campbell making an NFL roster with his hands of stone. his collegiate career is more known for his clear drops than anything else, same with McLaurin. WRs deserve the blame as well, I'll take you word that they're open, but they sure are having a hard time catching

Remember all of Ginn Jrs drops. Speed speed speed. Some of his drops will be over looked. I don't recall many drops last night. We were in an endzone for this one so I couldn't see perfectly on the other end of the field. I do recall one play where Campbell had a chance to catch it and was hit just as the ball arrived. He was so damn open for so long it was unreal. JT finally let it go, it felt like it took an eternity to get there, and then was behind him as the defender arrived just as the ball did and broke it up. That was 100 percent on JT holding it too long, JT not having the arm strength to get it there, and Campbell was side ares open. I just see that scenario a million times it seems. A halfway decent throw to Mack on time would have had him walking in the endzone. He was 10 yards behind the defense at one point if JT would have let it go sooner. Instead, we get a late floater where Mack has to jump and try to stay in bounds. That should have been 6 points. Plays like that is why our drives stall and we can't move the ball.

Hstead is dead on the money.

The WRs aren't making some of the catches when it finally does hit them but the timing is poop. I said in his thread, whatever Beck and Co. did to him it feels permanent. The QB whisperer couldnt fix JT right now.

KJ Hill is not an NFL talent... Mack and Victor are though IMO.

I'm with you all that we need to start putting people who can't catch on the sidelines
