YOUR 2016 Cleveland Indians Thread (American League CHAMPS!)

Update from the anniversary dinner...

We went to Pier W on the West side of Cleveland. Nice place if you've never been I recommend it. I DVR'd the game but did not go on media blackout. We had about a 30min drive each way so I got to listen to Tom Hamilton call the beginning of the game and the 7th and into the the on way home. I did not touch my phone throughout dinner but my wife was nice enough to update me periodically keeping me in the loop from her phone. This way she had the power...

Was able to catch the ending at home so it all worked out in the end - especially since we won.

Go Tribe! Got my tickets for the ALCS as well - game 3 (if we need it!)

I think both of these guys were inserted for defensive purposes before their plate appearances. I did not realize that Martinez was a better outfielder then Naquin but Francona certainly must think so. Maybe Martinez knows the Boston outfield better than Tyler. Certainly not going to second-guess Francona when it comes to his substituting :biggrin2:

It certainly would be nice to shows Shapiro he made a mistake by taking the Toronto job.

Martinez went for Crisp...

Naquin had started in Center and Crisp in Left....

Davis PH for Naquin and went to Center... in the 6th

THEN... in the 8th with a runner on 2nd, the put Martinez in for Crisp but in Center and moved Davis to Left. Coco's arm strength is... Johnny Damonesque at this point.... I remember thinking at that point I'd rather Naquin still be in the game in the event someone needed to get gunned down.

Sort of forgot that Davis pinch hitted for Naquin in the 6th. I wonder why Davis went to left and Martinez to CF. Maybe Davis more familiar with the left-field wall but there is a lot of room to cover in CF.

It will be interesting to see if Francona makes any roster moves for the Toronto series. I wonder if Salazar can go 2 innings or even 1. He would be better than some of that crap in the bullpen.. It also would be nice if the Indians had a speed guy, besides Davis, who can scare the hell out of a pitcher just by pinch running like the guy from Kansas City. I thought maybe Martinez was that guy but obviously he is not.

The Indians run enough that they are generally distracting.... I dunno where Salazar is, but, obviously they'd like to have him available if they think he can give them 2 innings a couple times. Obviously we'll need Otero for more than one inning per 3 games... but, unfortunately a 7 game series is where Hoynes really was right... you're gonna go "Clevinger Deep" in this series and its gonna be tough to find enough quality innings. Further compounded by my assumption that Salazar would bump Anderson who I assume to be the "game is out of hand, eat these innings" guy. Though, I hardly think we'll need 3 catchers, either... Perez Clearly being the primary guy at the moment (and he's been excellent behind the plate, so, hey whatever)

I don't see a matchup lefty that I feel like Tito has any confidence in to actually use, but it would be a nice thing... but, other than that... That's it. Outside Catcher the position players are who they are. I don't even think we have another OF on the 40 man who can even play.

What happened in history on this day:

On October 11 in ...

1948 - Cleveland Indians beat Boston Braves, four games to two in 45th World Series.

The front page of the The Cleveland Press the day after the city of Cleveland celebrated the Tribe's 1948 World Series championship.

The Indians have won only two World Series championships in their 111 years of existence, the last one coming in 1948.
