Something just does not sit right with me on this whole thing.
JT is smart enough to know that when the Feds had finished their investigation, all this would leak to the public. I don't think he would cover anything up unless required to do so.

I believe that he fwd. the emails to legal and legal contacted the FBI. This whole situation, though looking bad for tOSU, is in the hands of the FBI and they had the entire University on do not talk.

In time, the FBI will exonorate tOSU and JT.

Is it cold outside, or are you just happy we can finally announce that the
conspiracy of silence is over and clear Agent Tressel?

I'm not trying to bash or vilify the guy. I do think he's a stand up guy. I also think that he was backed into a corner and had to make a tough decision, and unfortunately, it was the wrong one.
This is an uncommonly charitable post. I agree with it, but coming from a fan of another program, it's quite unusual.

Man, you have my admiration. Plus you'll probably get some extra vBucks to bet with, so it's probably a win-win.

If this was 100% a JT issue and problem why didn't the administration distance themselves from the NCAA violations by Removing JT? I think there must be more to this story..hopefully more positive than what's been released so far...I don't condone the actions of JT or the University but it seems something is missing from this whole incident..and I hope if there is more to come it is disclosed by the AD and the University not on a web site..

I agree there absolutely has to be more to the story. What we know and what we've been told does not add up.

However, I think the FBI rumor is a very thin branch to place hopes upon.

Remove JT? Remove him from a game or remove him from his post as The Ohio State University Head Football Coach?

If you think a university like ours is going to throw a man - a future state of Ohio legend - under the bus after after 8 BCS Bowl appearances and 9 victories against Michigan, over something like this you are wrong. When you say "Ohio State" to a casual college fan one thing comes to mind and its not our fine business college or our stellar medical labs. Its football. Football is to Columbus as a Swiss Miss roll is to Charlie Weis. The fans that pack the 105,000 seat Ohio Stadium every Saturday have been waiting for a coach with the coaching prowess and football intellect as Jim Tressel's since December 30, 1979. Ohio State sports - football especially - is the sole reason great dot com sites like Buckeye Planet exist. The Ohio State University leaders know who the money maker is in this relationship. Firing a man that has given so much to the various communities of Columbus would cause riots on Lane Avenue. The NCAA can ask our coach to step down, but no way can this upstanding university afford to lose a Scarlet-blooded, Cleveland-born Buckeye like Jim Tressel.

The federal drug investigation was not over then and still not now. The only thing special about December was that none of the Buckeye players were found involved in the drug trafficking, period. It took time to clear these guys, so when they are cleared, then JT was allowed to informed the NCAA then and there. He wasted no time once he was given the green light. Believe what you want to believe..as for me, I stick with the Vest.

I am not saying you are...I just wish tall these talking heads keep their fat lips shut when they have no clue what a federal drug investigation involves and what kind of danger one can quickly find themselves in.

I don't understand the logic behind the FBI holding back on JT. The investigation was complete in December. I would think if the Feds had turned in the tat five then there's no reason why JT shouldn't have been able to speak then.

You don't recommend a two game suspension for a violation that historically has gotten 90% of coaches fired unless there are some serious mitigating factors. Keep in mind the NCAA worked WITH OSU this entire time. There is something very unique about this situation, and I think it has everything to do with the federal investigation. IMO, this is going to be a good ending for Tressel and Ohio State.

Since the NCAA already let the ineligible Tat 5 play in the Sugar Bowl, there's no way in hell that they should be able to contradict themselves and subsequently vacate our season.

I don't know anything really, but this is what it looks like to me:

It looks to me as if the NCAA went lenient on OSU during the TatGate deal, by postponing the suspensions until after the Sugar Bowl, only to find out later that OSU was 'lying' about what they knew and when they knew it.

If that's how the NCAA sees it too, it paints them into a very awkward corner.
