Yes, that would have been the correct response in April or perhaps December...but not at the presser where it was all out in the open. When JT said at this presser that he had no contact with the FBI, he was no longer under that obligation. (assuming he ever really WAS under any obligation...which it appears he really wasn't)

You've obviously never seen the black helicopters...

Actually, upon looking at your avatar and name, you likely pilot said helicopters. That would explain it. :paranoid:

Ok ok, I'll take off my tin-foil hat now.

In 5 minutes you will here a knock at the door, for your sake and others, answer the door and follow the 2 men. This message will self destruct in 5 minutes.

Earlier in that presser, at the start of the Q&A:

JT - "I suppose in January as we sat down and we talked about it. It certainly wasn't at the point you were talking about. I had made a commitment to the confidentiality of a federal situation. And, as we sat down and got a little bit of guidance as to how we could have done it better. I think that was probably the point in time."
That would would solidly support what I posted earlier...

See the bolded part of BB73's post above. Not a commitment to the confidentiality of "an attorney", or "a former OSU player", but to "a federal situation". Maybe now--nearly three months later--the FBI doesn't mind him mentioning things as long as he doesn't associate them with their investigation.

Sorry, but I have a very hard time believing that Jim Tressel would refrain from reporting violations that were brought to his attention unless he had good reasons to refrain.

Something just does not sit right with me on this whole thing.
JT is smart enough to know that when the Feds had finished their investigation, all this would leak to the public. I don't think he would cover anything up unless required to do so.

I believe that he fwd. the emails to legal and legal contacted the FBI. This whole situation, though looking bad for tOSU, is in the hands of the FBI and they had the entire University on do not talk.

In time, the FBI will exonorate tOSU and JT.

If that's the case, it would get tiresome hearing the non-stop coverage on ESPN of all of their folks apologizing. I'm sure it would go on for hours, and be the lead story on all of their shows. :tongue2:

I don't think I would go this far. The FBI could give a shit about tOSU and JT getting in trouble with the NCAA. In the (as of now) extremely unlikely chance this angle actually has some merit, I would think there are channels that would have been used with the NCAA to keep everything nice and quiet (they have legal counsel as well). "Internal punishments for undisclosed reasons" from tOSU could have easily been used in lieu of outright NCAA-named sanctions to keep things quiet.

As much as I don't fully buy the FBI confidentiality angle, I also firmly think there is more here than meets the eye, and that it will come out before too much longer.

Bill Cunningham on 700wlw radio stated on air he has heard from school sources that Tressel was asked by the FBI not to say anything. If this pans out, a whole shitload of Tressel-bashers had fucking better get used to the taste of crow...

Trust but I hope it verifies....

If it doesn't it won't change much I don't think....
