It's probably already been suggested, but who else is starting to actually humor the underlying benefits of receiving "the death penalty" in the long run? I mean it's a clean slate, probably no pressure or expectations for the people involved after the hammer drops.

I dunno, I know it's probably a ridiculous idea but I'm humoring some of the strangest things here recently.

I am expecting a one year bowl ban, possibly two. Reduced scholarships and the like.... We all know it's coming, might as well prepare ourselves. My huge concern is if this team is barely hanging on when the announcement takes place, a bowl game ban could send it on a tailspin.

I don't know if I'd go...quite...that far. Just because we say we think a self-imposed penalty is "enough punishment", doesn't mean it necessarily should be. If they give us a few more scholies lost or whatever, I won't consider it the end of the world. Now I would agree fully that if teams in similar circumstances (USC, Miami) get off lighter than we do, then they can go fuck themselves, because they had to dig that shit up, it was not volunteered.
