OAKLAND – Terrelle Pryor always wanted to be a quarterback, OK? When coaches and friends, and even NFL analyst Jon Gruden, suggested he switch to tight end or wide receiver, the third-year Raiders quarterback politely but stubbornly shook his head and said, "No thanks."

Quarterback is in his head, in his DNA, in his local soil. Joe Namath and Joe Montana grew up within an hour of Pryor's hometown of Jeannette, Pa. Terry Bradshaw and Ben Roethlisberger won Super Bowls with Pryor's Pittsburgh Steelers. And back at his old high school, the colors blue and red are beloved.

"Around here, Friday night's the night," Jeannette High athletic director Matt Lebe said from his cellphone. "The years Terrelle blew through, it was just electric, exciting. There were only 80 people in his graduating class, maybe 300 in the school, so you can imagine the amount of attention he received. People here still follow him closely."

The line you quoted is the worst of it. This is the only other thing he said of even minor controversy:

“That’s my school, but they don’t really accept me,” Pryor said. “I’ve moved on to what I have now, and that’s just football.”

I my opinion, this is all that matters:

Is he bitter?

“Not at all,” Pryor said. “I’m a God-fearing man, and I know God has got my back. I hope (the Buckeyes) win the championship.”

Even if he had time to attend the OSU-Cal game, Pryor couldn’t have accepted free tickets from OSU players, coaches or alumni. That stipulation is part of a five-year ban the university placed on him in 2011 stemming from the scandal.

“Those guys kicked me out of school after all those things I did for them,” Pryor said.

The indignation in his voice spurred a Raiders official to step in and cut off a question from a Dispatch reporter.

“Guy, we’re not going to talk about Ohio State right now,” said the Oakland official, sending Pryor out the locker-room door.

Doesn't sound like he's moved on too much. Even if so...man, this bugs me.

Look, I'm fine with TP now, wish him the best in the NFL. As far as I can tell, he screwed up, apologized on national television, and was poised to make it right before the clusterfuck that was the NCAA and Gene Smith ended up forcing him/Tress out.

However, don't play the fucking victim card. YOU broke the rules, YOU caused the school to "kick you out." You weren't booted for excessive community involvement, you were booted for breaking the rules.

To act like he was wronged by the school...unreal.

that is true, but JT did some things that broke some even more serious rules and he was carried off the field last year.

But you are right that he's not a victim. I do hope he is welcomed back after the 5 year period is over (assuming he is a good citizen)

Agree with all of that.

In addition, I do believe he is, to a certain extent, a victim in that he gets to take all of the blame for what he did, but also a lot of the blame for what Herron, Adams, Posey, Thomas, Whiting, AND Tressel did. He wasn't the only one who did it. He wasn't the one who ignored an email about it. He didn't go out in the summer and commit more NCAA violations. And yet, OSU was on probation because of Terrelle Pryor, not the litany of other offenses.

The post-Tressel staff wasn't exactly welcoming him back with open arms along with all those other suspended players. He did not go until it was made clear to him that he was persona non grata around the WHAC, two weeks after JT resigned.

It's just unfortunate. He made mistakes, but he wasn't the only one. He's never shown himself to love OSU any less than Boom, Posey, or Adams.

I could be wrong here; but as I remember, he was not "kicked out of school (i.e. Ohio State)". He was suspended for 5 games and chose to leave:

The Ohio State quarterback announced through his attorney Tuesday that he would not play for the Buckeyes this season. He had already been suspended for the first five games for breaking NCAA rules by accepting improper benefits from the owner of a tattoo parlo

"In the best interests of my teammates, I've made the decision to forgo my senior year of football at The Ohio State University," Pryor said in a statement issued by Columbus lawyer Larry James.

Pryor's announcement comes just eight days after Buckeyes coach Jim Tressel was forced to resign for knowing about the players' improper benefits but not telling any of his superiors.
