WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

I think TP is where he will always be (IMHO). A very athletic back-up that will cause a scare in some defenses (when he gets time due to a starter's injury) but without the tools to be a regular starter.
I don't have a lot emotionally invested in Pryor's NFL success, but he seems to me like a guy who could potentially be a more physically imposing (i.e. powerful) version of Randall Cunningham. And Cunningham was a pretty good NFL quarterback, despite having some of the same drawbacks you attribute to Pryor.

A better situation would tell the real story. Thats what people are really wanting to see if Pryor could do it or not. Maybe he could cut it, maybe not. It would be nice to see the result though. He did have some great moments in the preseason so it's possible, however improbable. Give him a chance.

Have you ever watched Cunnigham play?

He had one of the best arms in the history of the NFL.

No comparison other than being tall, black guys.

Much as I think Ted Ginn has been miscast as a WR on the NFL level (I'd like to have seen him play cornerback) I believe Pryor is miscast as a QB. Add a bit more muscle and make him an athletic TE. He's not an NFL passer, IMO.

If you replace TP with Cam Newton @ Auburn, you get about the same thing here.

Newton had fantastic accuracy across the field, excellent arm strength and NFL caliber pop on his throws. TP is faster, but the only category in which he compares favorably with Newton is in his arm strength. Newton if you watched him at Auburn was a fantastic passer.

I truly believe TP would be something special with the right team. For example, Kaepernick at SF was not an NFL qb coming into the draft. I would say TP was a better passer, so that sets the bar very low indeed. However, with the right coach and scheme he has succeeded. Give TP to Harbaugh and the rest of the NFL should watch out.

I must have been watching a different Cam Newton because there we're times he had serious footwork and placement issues.

The largest I remember being gator-arming a pass to a wide open TE against Oregon.

He had a bad game against Oregon for sure. But every game I watched (5 or 6 of them), he threw the ball consistently, very accurately, and where only his receiver could get it. The majority of his interceptions came when his receivers tipped the ball up. I say this because I openly recall wishing we had Newton instead of Pryor, during that season. Or that Pryor had Newton's accuracy.
