WR Ted Ginn, Jr. (Official Thread)

No Way

No way does JT make Ginn's first experience on defense at the collegiate level in the bowl game - they have Youboty (played like an AA against scUM), Fox (last game of a fantastic career at tOSU), and Underwood, all with starting experience. Also, making a tackle after a JZ interception does not count as defense!!!

Teddy needs a punt TD to retain his record

As most of us know, Teddy Ginn tied a single-season NCAA record with 4 punt returns for TD's.

One of the players that he shared the record with was Chad Owens, a former walk-on at Hawaii. Well, Owens ran back a punt against UAB in the Hawaii Bowl tonight, giving him the record of 5 all by himself. Owens also caught 2 TD passes from Timmy Chang, giving him 17 receiving TD's and 22 total for the year, which is second to DeAngelo Williams (23) of Memphis.

Chang threw for 405, ending his record career with 17,072 yards. If he played in all 53 of Hawaii's games over the past 4 years, that's still an average of over 322 yards per game.

Anyway, here's hoping TG takes a punt to the house to get a share of that record back. Or better yet, run back a pair to get the record all to himself.

UM has a pretty good punter and good gunners. Ginn was a shoelace tackle away from taking two punts back for touchdowns in that game.

If oOSU punts to Ginn, they're in serious trouble.

Yeah man, #112 in Punt Defense out of 117 Division I Schools is pretty darn good.:roll2:

Looking at the rest of tOSU's schedule....
Cinci: #107
Marshall: #27
NC St: #84
NW: #102
Wisc: #76
Iowa: #29
Indiana: #26
Penn State: #99
Michigan State: #113
Purdue: #33

You've faced some good Punt D's this year, and some slackers too. Seems that his best games have been against the lesser teams. He's good, I'm not denying that fact. But our Punt D isn't Michigan's Punt D. Additionally, you've gotta look at the punter too. MSU has the #1 punter in the country, but doesnt have the D to help him out. Michigan's punter is #19, same story though. If you think we're gonna let him waltz into the endzone you're sorely mistaken. Cole Farden is the #21 punt man in the country, and we have the #73 Punt D. Not the best, but seems to be pretty good compared to the games you choose to boast about.

indeed it will. I can't wait.

Oh and just to add to the discussion....we're going to actually have to punt the ball for him to have a chance. Which means stopping the O from moving the ball. Anybody care to serve up an over/under on Ok State punt's in the game?

That's a tough one Ho. First, you've got to factor in Youboty and his interceptions. Then you've got to consider Hawk and the fumbles he's going to force. Then there's Coach Tressel's prevent defense after we maintain a lead ranging from 1-point and up. All of those factors bring down the amount of times our opponents punt. How about 7? Does that seem like a fair number to you Ho?
