Miami Dolphins wide receiver Ted Ginn Jr., a former standout at Glenville and Ohio State, attended the Tarblooders' signing ceremony this morning inside the school's auditorium.
CLEVELAND - Former Glenville and Ohio State football player Ted Ginn Jr., now a wide receiver with the Miami Dolphins, reflects on signing day this morning during the Tarblooders' ceremony with Plain Dealer reporter Bob Fortuna.
-- Miami head coach Tony Sparano (I so want to type "Soprano") defended former OSU receiver Ted Ginn. Sparano said Ginn works hard, is very coachable and made some big plays for the Dolphins last year.
Sparano was not the coach who drafted Ginn with the No. 9 overall pick in 2007, and I believe his draft position is what's hanging around Ginn's neck now. Had Ginn been a second-round pick, his young career would be viewed in a much more positive light.

Keyshawn says he believes Miami wants to draft big WR
By EDGAR THOMPSON

DANA POINT, Calif. ? Former No. 1 pick Keyshawn Johnson knows the kind of receiver Bill Parcells would like to find during next month's NFL Draft.
One just like Johnson - big, strong and able to line up inside or outside.
One player whom Johnson said won't ever become that receiver is Ted Ginn Jr. - the only receiver drafted in the first round by the Dolphins in the past 11 years.
Johnson thinks Ginn, the No. 9 pick in 2007, is improving.
"He had a good year," Johnson said of Ginn. "But he's a guy that is not your elite receiver. He's a good No. 2."
Johnson, who earned trips to the Pro Bowl for Parcells' 1998 and '99 Jets teams, also said Ginn isn't big enough (5-11, 178) or physical enough to become the kind of player who can play outside and get downfield or move inside to the slot and block a linebacker.
"Who's he going to block?" Keyshawn said. "The problem you have with him is he can run like a deer and he can play like a deer - scared."
Johnson said Ginn could use a bigger, stronger complement on the other side than Greg Camarillo (6-1, 190) or Davone Bess (5-10, 190).
Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland: 'It's time for Ted Ginn to really show what he was drafted here to do'
Staff report | South Florida Sun-Sentinel
April 6, 2009
DAVIE - Miami Dolphins General Manager Jeff Ireland says Ted Ginn Jr. and Greg Camarillo are the Dolphins' top two receivers, but he still wants to add depth and upgrading that unit is a priority.
"Teddy is going into his third year and I think it's time for him to really show what he was drafted here to do," Ireland said of Ginn, the No. 9 overall pick in the 2007 draft.
Ted Ginn Jr. not involved in birthday party tussle
by Brian Biggane
If your first thought when you heard about Buffalo safety Donte Whitner getting Tased at Ted Ginn Jr.?s birthday party in Cleveland over the weekend was ?What?s he doing up there??, you?re not alone.
OK, Ginn did turn 24 on Sunday, and with the resources today?s pro athletes have at their disposal, it?s no surprise he would have popped out of the Dolphins? offseason conditioning program and jetted up to his hometown over the weekend to celebrate.
The good news is that while Whitner, Ginn?s boyhood buddy and former teammate at Ohio State, was getting himself mixed up with the police, Ginn was nowhere to be found. Lt. Thomas Stachow, public information officer for the Cleveland police, confirmed as much Monday, saying, ?The name Ted Ginn does not appear in any of our reports.? As if to underscore that piece of information, he added, ?I don?t even know if it was a Ted Ginn birthday party.
