I was just trying to understand this statement.
Scout isn't reporting that it is premature. They are also reporting that it is from sources other than GM.

Also I agree about the Go Blow article.
Might be premature but doesn't mean it's untrue.

Not to get too far off track but the Michigan insiders are horrible.

I knew Herron was going to be a Buckeye the second he got an offer, and Turel was talking about how he was going to be a Wolverine, or he would be shocked. Same thing with Saine and Barksdale earlier in the process. They also insisted they had a legit shot at Oglesby and Martin.

The insiders on GBW are the same as their fans, they have no clue.

now how can that be? Those same insiders have said that ttun didn't even really "officially" offer herron or saine, and that barksdale wasn't good enough to play DT for them, so they wanted him as an OL, but he wasn't as high on their OL board as other prospects.

Honestly, not to stray too far, but you could almost set your watch to the pattern of deniability that occurs when a kid they offered goes to osu.

That being said, there were some rumors on their board that Allen and Washington tried to commit together at camp, but the staff wasn't ready to take washington's verbal.

In all fairness, the scout guys (IIRC, Turel) who said we hadn't offered Herron at camp did say he got one eventually. I'm under the impression that we did offer Saine, but I'm not as sure of it as I am about Herron.

I have never heard that we offered Barksdale as a OL because "he wasn't good enough to play DT." More likely we offered him as a OL because the staff thought we had two space eating DTs already in Kates and Slocum. I personally hope that changes.

All that said, I haven't been thrilled with the way the GBW guys have been acting lately. There's certainly some sour grapes there, but not the way OSU fans are characterizing it.

This doesn't make sense: There's never been any doubt that we've offered Washington.

The recruiting wars are heating up.

No, not those recruiting wars, but the ones in which Web sites disagree over what has and hasn’t occurred. Bucknuts.com reported this week that Taurian Washington, a 6-foot, 180-pound receiver from Orchard Lakes, Mich., had been offered a scholarship by Ohio State and has "promptly" accepted it, making him the seventh member of Tressel’s 2007 recruiting class. This news reportedly came from Washington’s grandmother, who told the Web site, "He did commit. We are very happy."

Meanwhile, Buckeye Sports Bulletin, Bucknuts’ Internet rival, reported that Washington had not committed and that its information came from Washington himself.

This same thing happened last month with OSU recruit Aaron Johnson, only the roles were reversed: BSB reported that he had committed — he apparently told BSB was committing — and Bucknuts reported that he wasn’t. At this point, it’s still unclear whether OSU even made him an offer.
It would pay to remember this the next time a player reneges on an oral commitment. With all the calls these guys get from coaches, newspaper reporters and Web services, sometimes they probably aren’t sure to whom and what they’ve committed.

I really hope that all that crap with Kyle and BN did not kill the deal. As much as we say that recruiting websites do not impact much, I think that this might be proof that it does.

Good luck to him where ever he ends up, I hope it is tOSU.

Agree. At the least it gives the opposing coaching staff an idea of his plans and the opportunity to call and persuade him otherwise. I'm not saying he was definitely going to commit to OSU, but I'm sure the UM staff were on the phone with him that same day. I'm sure he's feeling the love now.

It's easier to change your mind prior to publically announcing your intent.
