WR Santonio Holmes (Super Bowl XLIII MVP)

Holmes "money year" was supposed to be 1200 yards, 70 catches and 12 touchdowns...Looks like the only one he is going to get is the tds. I would be suprised to see him back, but would love for it to happen.

Yeah, I saw Holmes at the end of the game too. It looked like he was having words with #18 from Illinois. That's the DB that was guarding him when TS overthrew the fade pattern early in the game. The guy was talking shit like his defense resulted in the bad pass.:roll1: What a chump. He was burnt on the play.

I rewatched the second half last night, and as the clocked ticked off the final seconds, Holmes ran onto the field in a wide circle holding his helmet in the air in celebration. ABC switched views for a couple seconds and came back to Holmes who then had one of the Illinois players taking shit to him. Unreal. They just had their asses beat by 38 points and they were talking shit to Holmes. Obviously Holmes took exception...

And the awesome signature arms race continues ...

As far as the end of the game though, I think it had to do with holmes celebrating rather a little too "excessively" after the win. I can understand in alot of other situations ie the michigan upset last year, but cmon 'Tone - it's illinois ... act like you've been there before.

If the roles were reversed I'd expect whoever was celebrating to get a nice facefull of helmet if they tried that in the shoe.

So what if Holmes was celebrating a win? He just ran onto the field holding up his helmet. He wasn't saying shit to anyone, or rubbing it in to Illinois players in any way.

As for a player from the opposition celebrating a win on our field, you're damn right they'd get drilled, provided they were over the top (dancing on The "O", plating a flag on our field, etc.), since it ain't their field to celebrate on. Texas ran onto our field holding up their helmets after they beat us, but nothing more. You didn't see any of our players getting into their faces, because Texas displayed restraint and kept it sportsmanlike.

I was at the game, so i got to see a lot of the stuff the TV cameras didnt catch. Let me just say this, Illinios talked more shit in that one game than i have seen a Tressel coached team talk for a whole season. Every single play, #18 was in Holmes or Ginn's face, every single play! I even mentioned to my wife after the first quarter that the Illini was talking a lot. When Holmes got his first TD and broke the safeties jock, #18 just turned around and ran back to the sideline, Priceless!

I was going to say the same thing, 513. I can't imagine that Zook is a very discipline-oriented coach. I don't think Illinois will ever be a good team with him at the helm.

And so is the nail in the coffin of the myth that Zook is somehow just a swell guy, who coaches sportsmenship as much as football. It's obvious the team is totally out of control, and half the time Zook is out of control on the sideline. The players may love him, but it seems more and more that this is because he lets them do anything they want. There is a fine but definitive line between intensity and assclownness, and obviously the Illini players crossed it most of the game.

But take heart Zooker, you aren't alone. Basanez said in an interview up here that Iowa was playing dirty and taking cheap shots all game last week, and then finished with "I guess that's how the teach football down there". Wonder what Saint Ferentz thought of that? Hilarious.
