WR/RB Lamaar "Flash" Thomas (transfer to New Mexico)

Flash was the Buckeye commit I was most impressed with other than Mike Adams. Great burst and good vision...I really wouldn't be surprised to see him split time between RB and slot here at OSU, maybe 5-10 carries a game. Great game Lamar and can't wait to see you at OSU!

I can really see Lamar used in the exact role Percy Harvin is in at UF. Start him in the slot and motion him into the backfield for 10 plays a game.

Great comparison...I think that's exactly how we will use him. Just get the ball in his hands.

I'll be eaten alive for this, but, I saw more than a Percy Harvin role for our LT. I honestly think he's much more than that. Going out on a limb and aiming higher saying that he's in the Marshall Faulk or 'THE' LT, category, yes, as a TB, or at least in the RegBush-like version of it.

Showed toughness and durability didn't anticipate. Will consider anything says he's extremely ambitious, confident and eager just to get the ball in his hands. That's good.

Extremely impressed with limited chances, no time to sustain a rhythm or consistency, and yet was explosive in both halves...against the best competition available. Oh well.

My thing is he's at least as big as Pittman was at this stage. There is no reason to think that he can't add some weight(apparently he added A LOT of weight between junior and senior year) to become a tailback at least part time, if not full time.

Yes, but, personally, I think it's more about a, confidence and belief in himself thing, and those around him. Maybe a few pounds over time, nothing excessive. Strength, yes, but Speed, which he has, the priority. Exploding to the hole, no fear or hesitation. Like Beannie, and like he did today..with TP handing it to him. Just my humble opinion.

[strike]When[/strike] If Pryor comes aboard, defensive coordinators throughout the conference will have many a sleepless night worrying about Flash and Pryor being on the field at the same time...

You have to think they would be on the field in 2 years right? If so, Ray Small would be a Senior by that time too unless he plays like superman next year!

True, but from what I saw of Flash today, I think he's a little more versatile than Small. In two years, I can see Pryor at QB, Zoom and Flash in the backfield where we'd split one or both out prior to the snap, with Small out in the slot. All that speed and elusiveness...no way can you scheme for that.

I agree, I think this is a reason TP is leaning towards OSU, he's hanging with all the guys he knows will be playing and growing with him right now, he's meshing with them and really building a friendship. He sees the talent of guys like big mike, flash, posey, and is excited to play with them. So unless all the recruits know something we dont, and know that he's not coming here, I cant see him basically turning his back on them. Who knows, these kids change their minds by the minute, but from what i've seen, and heard in every interveiw so far, this group has a real chemistry i cant see any of them breaking it, and that includes TP.

I had "flash"es of Steve Slaton and Vince Young in my mind when I saw him taking handoffs from Pryor.

I should qualify that my saying I meant the Steve Slaton of 2005 and 2006.

rivals free final top 11:

11. Lamaar Thomas, RB, Fort Washington (Md.) Friendly

The last one was a tough call with many candidates but Thomas had a very good game and showed his explosive speed. He has the best vision of any running back on either squad and proved he could do some damage up the middle. He won't be a running back at Ohio State unless they drastically change their offense, but he'll be effective.

i have to disagree with that...i think he comes in as a runner and combined with pryor....nasty.....love how these guys assume that tressel wont modify the offense with the personel he has coming...
