WR/RB Lamaar "Flash" Thomas (transfer to New Mexico)

Flash inks with Bucks

Jack Byrne

Issue date: 1/29/08 Section: Sports

With 4.4 speed, "Flash" is not just a nickname, it is the blur opponents will be seeing on the field next season.

Lamaar "Flash" Thomas of Friendly High School in Fort Washington, Md., is the fastest of 2008's Ohio State football recruits. However, Thomas offers a lot more than just speed. With experience at several different positions, including running back, wide receiver and quarterback, he has become a great student of the game.

In 2006, Thomas rushed for 800 yards on 42 carries, reaching the end zone seven times. He also brought in 22 catches for 350 yards and five touchdowns. This kind of performance is why he is listed as the top recruit from Maryland and the fourth-ranked athlete in the nation, according to rivals.com.

Along with Thomas, DeVier Posey and Jake Stoneburner complete a great wide receiver recruiting class for the Buckeyes. Thomas will contribute to the position by giving quarterback Todd Boeckman another target and a vertical threat down the field. His experience at running back also gives the offense the opportunity to line him up in the back field or to take reverses from the wide receiver position.

Thomas feels his natural position is along the lines of a running back who can catch the ball out of the backfield, much like Reggie Bush. He even played as a running back at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl Jan. 5. He does have good hands as well, making him a big threat anywhere on the field.

Please, God, in this coming mean season, we ask that you but bless just one of our, (s)lowly, Buckeye athletes, (we would choose in this case, Lamaar Thomas, heretofore referred to as LT) with even a tiny bit of the divinely superior speed and acceleration that is so prominent in the almighty and omnipresent chosen conference that exists below the magical Mason Dixon Line?you know, the SEC.

We understand that the gifts that you have bestowed on those mighty warriors, both born and playing, in said enchanted areas of preeminence, is exclusive, but, in this case, (and this case alone), we would humbly ask, (since our LT was previously situated so close, Dear God, in Maryland, which is not but a very few miles from the magical line itself, and will be in future playing most of his football contests in Columbus, OH, which is but a mere hundred or so miles from said enchanted border of that closely coveted 'Kingdom of Speed'), for the demure and sheepish Buckeyes of Ohio State, in the ponderously slow and ridiculously inept, big10...could you not, would you not, please, just this once, bless our LT, with just a sprinkling few of the blessed riches of speed that you have reserved for those superior chosen ones residing in the only land where real football is played, (including, of course, the lone exception to the rule, THE School of Supremacy in Southern California....blah, blah, blah.

Where's the Hall of Fame for the NFL??

Not intended to offend anybody on this board in any way!!

Maybe with Torrence not in the fold now, Thomas can get a look at RB back now. If used like Florida does Percy Harvin, he could excell that way also. Imagine if Pryor lined up in a shotgun set with two backs in the backfield with Thomas and Saine back there. That would be as fast a backfield as any in the country.:oh::io:

He will.

Also, I have been salivating seeing this personnel on the field at once, probably in '09:

QB: Terrelle Pryor
RB: Lamaar Thomas
RB: Brandon Saine
WR: Raymond Small
WR: Brian Hartline
WR: Washington/Posey

Not to mention with at least a few of the Block O blocking for them.
