WR Ray Small (official thread)

He is a Glenville kid he isn't going to make a decision until atleast January. Coach Ginn doesn't allow his player to committ untill after the season. So for those of you hoping to hear something soon regarding Small, Rose, Browning, or Daven Jones do not count on it you will be waiting a while. (Jamario committed when he was at Mansfield not Glenville).

From the USC site...Ray says USC is his "dream school" and he feels like his speed would fit in good there. Ray is also interested in the USC track program. The one player Ray tries to emulate on the football field is TG, and he feels very comfortable with all the Glenville players at OSU. He is going to the Nike Campe at Virginia Tech. The school sending him the most mail is Virginia. He has offers from OSU, Indiana, Akron, and Michigan State.

This is going to be a battle. Ray has all the makings of the 2006 Recruit Most Likely To Shut Down the Bucknuts Server. Past finalists of this award include:

I agree that this kid is probably gonna be a stud and a very exciting recruit matchup with USC once again.

However I don't see him tying up the server. We will have Ted Ginn Jr, Jamario O'Neal, Donte Whitner, Welch? (might prove he can cover like he can tackle this year), Lenix (safety perhaps), etc. Who knows, we might even have Rolle on board by the time Small is one of the main remaining targets on the recruiting hunt. I just don't see him being quite as sensational of a recruit as Gwaltney or Dwayne Jarrett. Those two provided us with something we didn't have, the potential for a blockbuster big frame at those two positions, in two areas we desperately needed them (Jarrett just cuz MJ was departing).

Honestly I think there is an outside chance of that award going to the Hornsby-Tebow combined traffic. Hornsby may very well end up at tOSU, and with all of the players we're landing (including maybe two more of his teammates this year at WR), plus the potential to immediately establish ourselves as #2 behind USC in September (Texas, Iowa) gives us a shot at landing Tebow as well. Fortunately QB is not as big of a need, and Hakes might prove to be the mobile QB we want anyway (since we know he'll probably verbal within minutes of receiving an offer).
