During his postgame press conference, Day said his star receiver was only scheduled to play approximately 20 plays against the Hawkeyes. The coaching staff believed he was near that mark when Smith-Njigba was held out of the game from the second quarter and beyond.

Yeah, I hope he tweaked something other than his hamstring, and obviously hope that it’s not serious.I dunno. I'm the kind of guy who saves all his special moves in a video game until the game is over and I should have used them earlier.......but I don't think, if I had 20 plays with my stud WR, that I would use all 20 of them up in the first quarter and then shut it down. He tweaked something on that play.
His reaction on the sidelines definitely made it feel like his hamstring but we can hope his ankle got stepped on or something and he was just mad he didn't catch that.Yeah, I hope he tweaked something other than his hamstring, and obviously hope that it’s not serious.
