WR Jameson Williams (transfer to Alabama, Detroit Lions)

I mean right now yeah Williams is better. We will see in 2 years for Egbuka and Harrison.

I get it guys Williams' 1 trick is a really really good trick. We could've used that trick this year no doubt about it.

Glad it worked out for him though but no doubt he helps us had he stayed. Saying otherwise just isn't being honest.
The problem is that you present the case as if Ohio State somehow fucked it up by not being able to keep him. Which is pretty silly in that you not only call into question Ohio State brass, but also Jameson for making the decision he did, which seems to have been the best for all parties considered. I can't help but note you haven't had your panties in a knot about Mookie Cooper

Mookie hasnt made an impact yet but I always thought he was limited because of his size. All depends on how teams use kids' talent.

I get it that my take isn't popular with this. Maybe we tried to sell Jamo on a package for him but it just didn't work etc. Clearly it's worked out for all involved though.

However yeah I've stated a ton we should be rotating more at WR and I still believe that. I think had we had the previous experience of doing that maybe we keep Williams.

Glad it's worked out for everyone but absolutely I'll always be curious what it would’ve looked like to have been able to have jamo this year too.

I doubt Ohio State said "there's the door" and here you seem to agree. But your original presentation suggested the contrary, without evidence. Again, your presentation was that Ohio State fucked up somehow.

I'm not pretending that... someone else did the "eyes" emoji to a previous comment I made.

I still maintain that Williams could've helped this team and we failed in showing him how he'd be used.

This is what will happen if we continue to play only 3 WRs primarily.

I'm not debating that Olave/Wilson/JSN aren't better. My whole take has been that Williams gave us something the other 3 didn't and we could've given him a role in our offense.

The main role he would've had in the offense would've been running streaks and crosses every other series with KRs and gadget plays thrown in. You can never have too many talented players, but he saw an opportunity elsewhere and left. What role do you give him that's better than starting, and starting at Bama?

As for only playing 3 WRs, why do they need to give the freshman and an injured Flemming more time? I personally think Egbuka and Harrison will be a special duo, but they're young and understandably not All American level players yet. And it's not like they're redshirting. They play on special teams, get a handful of 1st and lot of 2nd half garbage time snaps.

Day isn't telling anyone to take a hike, but if they're not a starter and want to be one, there's no magic role that beats out being #1 at another school.

Why do we rise to such obvious trolling? Oh gosh. I'm so sorry we lost Williams. Oh where oh where will we find another receiver like that?

What a silly argument when you have the best coach and WR room in all of college football, everyone involved as benefitted, and nobody is disputing those facts.

Bottom line: Williams made a move because he wasn't going to see the field as much as he wanted and knew he could find a place on teams that recruited him out of high school. We wish him well.

I'm not trolling.

Yes he did the right thing and yes he's probably our 4th best. What Alabama is proving though is theres certainly ways to use Williams that's affective.

Again I didn't bring this back up but absolutely I will continue to believe Williams could have helped us this year.

Could he have helped? Most likely he could have. Would he have been happy with less playing time and attention than he's getting at Alabama? Most likely not.

Yes there are ways to use him…. does that fit into our offensive philosophy? Probably not. Does it seem that he is doing one of the major things that all WR who get playing time in what it seems like the last 20 plus years - blocking? Probably not based on some evidence out there from the Alabama tape.

Now … should we have changed our passing game philosophy to better use Williams when everyone else was recruited for the current philosophy? Should Hartline or whomever decides WR playing time compromise on one of the core things they believe in - blocking?

Given everything I’ve seen - simply put - he wasn’t a fit for what we expect of WRs and what we’re doing on offense.

this is just my 2 cents

This was strictly a business decision for both sides. No harm, no hard feelings. Every buckeye on the team gets excited when Jamo does something incredible, and he was always a supportive teammate by my eyes. I have nothing but love for Jameson - I get excited every time I see him make a big play. It doesn't mean someone screwed up, it doesn't mean he didn't like it here, it doesn't mean anything other than he made a business decision that clearly was the right move. Good on him! Go get em kid! We are all pulling for you!
