WR Jameson Williams (transfer to Alabama, Detroit Lions)

Buckeye Football Freshman Focus 2019 — WR Jameson Williams

Jameson-Williams-Signing-Central.jpg

As a recruit, Jameson Williams held offers from many of the nation’s top schools, including Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Texas, USC, Michigan and others.

He was the No. 13 receiver in the nation and the No. 82 player overall according to the 247Sports Composite.

Williams put up huge numbers as a senior, as he caught 68 passes for 1,626 yards and 22 touchdowns, which included a game where he put up 257 yards receiving with five touchdowns.

As a junior, Williams finished with 36 receptions for 1,062 yards and 15 touchdowns. He also returned three kickoffs for touchdowns.

In a calendar year when Ohio State has signed a 5-star wide receiver in Garrett Wilson and received commitments from four Top 100 receivers in the 2020 class, it would be easy to overlook what Jameson Williams brings to Ohio State.

But it would also be very, very wrong.

What To Like
The interesting thing about Jameson Williams is that you don’t always need words to explain what to like about him.

His 30 yards a catch is impressive! Williams is a burner who actually is a very good receiver first and speedster second. He's skinny right now which puts some doubt about his contribution this year so we'll have to see how his physical development goes .We should be talking about him more.

I made the comparison last year to Calvin Ridley. Long, slender, speedsters, who averaged around 30 yards per catch in high school. If he can develop like Calvin did, look out!

Seems that he is being overlooked but may just be the fastest guy on the team. Love his Ted Ginn type stride and his yards per catch stats. Looking forward to seeing what Mick does with him in the weight room and what he is going to bring to the table. Could be the deep threat that we seem to be missing.

Yes I hear you on this... rightfully most are focusing on Wilson but this guy has speed at the WR position we haven't had since Devin Smith and Ted Ginn.

It's not even fair this guy is 7th or 8th on the depth chart right now.

There's a few kids HS tape I was amazed with over the years.

1. Carlos Hyde
2. Braxton
3. Jamal Marcus
4. Our QB for the 2021 Class
5. Jameson

I guess the coaches haven't overlooked Williams. Wow! To have his stripe removed this early, along with Mi!ler, is really impressive.
