I LOVE that quote, it sounds like it is straight from the mouth of Tressel. It is good to see he understands that so early.

Atlantic coach Andre Thaddies said that high school players tend to feel pressure to commit earlier because they're fearful of a school offering another player their scholarship if they wait too long.
"An advantage might be to get the phone calls, the e-mails out of the way," Thaddies said. "But they don't always stop. As a matter of fact, sometimes it's worse because now [other schools] really do know that kid truly did get offered by Florida or Florida State, and now they're really interested."
Verbal commitments are non-binding. A player can change his mind before Signing Day, which Atlantic wide receiver James Louis already has done once before the season begins.
"My advice was, kick all the tires and compare oranges to oranges. Do your homework, check out all the schools," Thaddies said of Louis, who this summer switched his commitment from Florida to Ohio State. "He might change his mind [again] from July to January. Maybe he won't like that weather in Ohio in January. It can be a rude awakening."

Chris Dunkley (2 TDs) stars as Pahokee stops Atlantic

PAHOKEE ? It did not take long for wide receiver Chris Dunkley to win over his new fans in Pahokee.
Dunkley, who transferred from Royal Palm Beach during the off-season, was unstoppable in the second half and the top-ranked Blue Devils christened Anquan Boldin Stadium on Friday night with a 13-6 win over Atlantic.
. . .
Pahokee's complete performance on defense was part of the problem. The Blue Devils pressured Leal on nearly every pass and their defensive backs rarely allowed Mireles or James Louis to separate long enough for a reception.
Leal completed 13 of 28 passes for 131 yards. Louis had one catch.
. . .
Mark Leal, Delray Beach Atlantic: The quarterback, who is committed to Virginia Tech, completed 15-of-21 passes for 268 yards and five touchdowns in the Eagles' 34-14 win against Jupiter. He also rushed for 52 yards on six carries. He completed two of those TD passes to Ohio State commit James Louis.

Mark Leal to James Louis connection continues to produce for Atlantic
Under Armour All-American wide receiver James Louis, a future Buckeye, caught five passes for 105 yards (21 average) and two touchdowns in Atlantic's (Delray Beach, Fla.) 33-0 shutout of Boynton Beach (Fla.).
Three-star quarterback Mark Leal, headed to Virginia Tech, threw for 268 yards and five scores.
The performances by Leal and Louis were overshadowed by ugly parking lot fight which forced the game to be stopped with seven minutes remaining, the Sun-Sentinel reports.

Leal, who has made a verbal commitment to Virginia Tech, served notice that he might have another stellar performance when he hooked up with senior wide receiver James Louis on a 28-yard touchdown pass on Atlantic's first possession.
...
Leal and Louis teamed up again on Atlantic's first possession of the third quarter when Leal lofted a perfectly thrown pass and Louis stretched out to make an outstanding catch in the back of the end zone.

DELRAY BEACH - Shortly after the quarterback threw a final touchdown pass, police covered a fighting crowd in pepper spray around the parking lot of Atlantic High School's football stadium.
Dozens of people were fighting inside the stadium and it poured into the parking lot mid-way through the fourth quarter Thursday night as Atlantic was beating rival Boynton Beach 33-0.
Up to 10,000 fans filled the stadium but it wasn't team rivalry that caused the fight, police and coaches said. Police said the fight may have been related to another rivalry -- gangs.
