TUSCALOOSA, Alabama - Duron Carter and Danny Woodson Jr. have not satisfied requirements to enter Alabama's preseason football practice leaving their status for this season in question.
Alabama coach Nick Saban made the announcement Friday afternoon during his opening press conference for preseason camp.
Saban also said Brent Calloway has satisfied his requirements to participate in preseason camp, and pending verification he could be available at Friday night's practice.
Carter is a junior college transfer, who was expected to compete immediately for playing time at wide receiver. His father said in a text message Wednesday he hoped to have his son's transcript issues settled today.
"Duron Carter, we do not have all of his information for all of his grades," Saban said. "Until we get that information, even though he's here he is not eligible to be at practice or be at camp. When we get that information if it's all what it's supposed to be then he'll be able to practice."
Woodson is another wide receiver, who would be a true freshman competing at the position. The LeFlore star is the son of former Alabama standout Danny Woodson.
"Danny Woodson is not here but may be here at some time before school starts just depending on what happens in some other situations," Saban said.
Calloway said last week he was on track to complete a science course he needed to finish to satisfy the NCAA Clearinghouse for his Alabama enrollment. Calloway confirmed Sunday he was still on track, but did not respond to messages later in the week.
"Brent Calloway has completed what he needs to complete," Saban said. "If that all verifies he'll be able to practice tonight."
