WR Devin Smith (National Champion)

Smith snagged 60 passes 1,130 yards and nine touchdowns. According to Hall, Smith is NCAA qualified and will sign a letter of intent with Ohio State on signing day.

Ohio State head coach Jim Tressel made some rounds through Stark County high schools Tuesday. Hall said Tressel stopped by Massillon.

Smith has been a solid OSU recruit since he attended the Buckeyes summer camp last year.

I'm surprised this kid didin't get more love in any of the Rivals/Scout/ESPN rankings. He put up really good numbers at a premier school in OH against elite competition. Kid's athletic as heck, and has some good yac. He should push for time next year
Sent it in, according to Scout (from the pay board, so delete if necessary... just didn't think this was proprietary...)
Cool. Neither Rivals' nor Scout's public sites had him listed as having signed his LOI and the thread title hasn't been changed (though I understand there may be some delays today in thread title updates). I was just wondering if he was having problems similar to Gambrell...

Glad to hear him and Steve Miller got everything in. Definately an ice day for all the Stark County kids. Honestly with his skill set and ability to get open I feel like he could definitely see the field.

MASSILLON ?

A day after signing their letters of intent, the exhilaration hasn?t diminished for Devin Smith and Justin Olack.

Nor has the feeling that the two Massillon senior wide receivers have just joined a relatively exclusive club of some of the best high school football players in the country.

?It feels good,? Smith said Thursday while returning home from a luncheon for the North-South All-Star Classic in Columbus. ?Getting it off and everything, it makes you feel a part of it now.?

Smith, meanwhile, feels having gone against the likes of St. Ignatius, Glenville, McKinley and Steubenville in has given him an idea of what is awaiting him in Columbus.

?It prepared me well,? Smith said. ?Playing at Massillon, you?re going to get the best competition with the teams you play. You?re going to get the biggest crowds. Playing for Massillon and then going to play for Ohio State is not that big of a transition.?

Then again, Smith admits there is one thing he knows is going to be vastly different once he gets to Ohio State, even with his Massillon playing experience.

?The speed,? Smith said. ?The speed is going to be very different from high school. I?m looking forward to coming down here and start getting around guys who are better or just as good as I am. I want to prepare myself for the top guys in college football.?

Devin looks very solid fundamentally, has great instincts at WR (reminded me of Santonio's), and really like his hands. He made all of those catches look easy, and some of those catches weren't so easy. Impressive.

I can't wait to see what an S&C program would do for him. If he can increase his speed, can really block, and become harder to take down, he could be a serious weapon for us in the passing game.

Big time improvements from his junior film. He just looks more comfortable out there, fluid strides, great separation, gets in and out of his breaks with ease, body control is there and he catches everything near him...I like the Posey comparisons stylistically speaking.
