WR Dane Sanzenbacher (Official Thread)

http://www.newsandsentinel.com/page...dled-Hogs-behind-defense--Pryor.html?nav=5064

Another key to the win was Sugar Bowl MVP Terrelle Pryor, who ran into the Ohio State record books in the game as the top rushing QB in school history, picking up 115 yards on 15 carries to pass previous leader Cornelius Greene (2,066 yards from 1973-75) with 2,164. Ironically, the record came on Pryor's first run - a 34-yard, 3rd-and-9 scramble that ended with a fumble at the Hog 3 that fortunately was recovered in the end zone by wide receiver Dane Sanzenbacher for a touchdown anda 7-0 Buckeye lead just 3:19 into the game.
Pryor too, with a pair of first-half TD tosses to Sanzenbacher and fellow wide-out DeVier Posey, tied Bob Hoying's OSU career touchdown pass mark of 57 from 1993-95.

TP ties a record with a little help from his friends.

OSU's Dane Sanzenbacher signs autographs for fans
BY HOLLY RICHARDS ? Staff Writer ? January 20, 2011

bilde

Former Ohio State football player Dane Sanzenbacher laughs while talking to Rosecrans graduate and current OSU student Ashley Latier, of Zanesville, on the phone. Sanzenbacher was sighing autographs Wednesday at Cardboard Heroes in the Colony Square Mall. (Chris Crook, Times Recorder)

ZANESVILLE -- A longtime collector of everything Ohio State, Tony McConnell now has the challenge of fitting another piece of memorabilia into his Buckeye Mecca.

"I've got a whole room in my house devoted to the Buckeyes," he said. "Now I've got to make room for this."

Clutching a photo of one of Ohio State's players in action, the Roseville man prided himself on being one of the first in line outside the Cardboard Heroes store at Colony Square Mall on Wednesday. Despite waiting the entire afternoon, he didn't want to miss an evening meet-and-greet with Dane Sanzenbacher. The OSU senior receiver made a special local appearance to meet with fans and sign autographs.

"It's always fun meeting fans outside of a football setting, and events like this are more personal," Sanzenbacher said.

A native of Toledo, Sanzenbacher's high school football career with Toledo Central Catholic included finishing his senior season with 61 receptions for 1,079 yards and 11 touchdowns. He then went from being one of the Fighting Irish to becoming a Buckeye in 2007 during his freshman year at OSU, wearing the number 12 on his jersey.

During the past few years at OSU, Sanzenbacher has shone as one of the up-and-coming players on and off the field with a host of accomplishments to his name.

"Team-wise, it's winning two BCS games, and never losing to Michigan," he said about his achievements. "Individually, it's being elected captain. The Sugar Bowl is also up there with the top moments; winning a final time with the jersey on, you can't beat it."

As a senior preparing to graduate, he must now look on to the next step, but cherishes and hopes to draw on past and recent victories.
"I want to try to go pro and take that as far as I can," he said. "My experience in my four years with Ohio State has been more than I could ask for, so anything after this is just extra. The (NFL) combines are next month in Indianapolis, so we'll just see how it goes from there."

I have a feeling he'll find a home in the NFL. There's got to be a team out there that needs a receiver with great hands, good speed, and the heart of a lion. Then again Herbstreit better watch out, the Great Dane, the Wolverine killer, the Rose and Sugar Bowls winner, the team MVP, the YouTube producer, and all around great guy could be available for TV work.

OSU has combine material

By TIM MAY
It appears that Ohio State is going to be downright defensive when it comes to participation in the 2011 NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis next month.
From preliminary information, six departing starters from the 2010 OSU defense have been invited thus far. They include cornerback Chimdi Chekwa, who might not be able to do any of the workouts, due to the dislocated right wrist he suffered in the Sugar Bowl win over Arkansas, but will be able to take part in the physicals and interview process.
Defensive lineman Cameron Heyward, linebackers Ross Homan (he will play in the Senior Bowl the end of this month) and Brian Rolle, cornerback Devon Torrence and safety Jermale Hines also will be there.
From the offense, wide receiver Dane Sanzenbacher and running back Brandon Saine have been invited.
Such an invitation indicates one or more teams from the NFL have serious interest in a player. The combine starts Feb. 23.

Hmmm...Sanzo and Gonzo in the NFL - just trying it out.

Dane Sanzenbacher: A look back
Updated: Friday, 21 Jan 201
Howard Chen
FOX Toledo Sports Director

TOLEDO, Ohio (WUPW) - FOX Toledo caught up with Central grad Dane Sanzenbacher now that his Buckeye career's in the books.

"It kind of laid out perfectly for me," the receiver said. "I had some success (during) freshman year, but I was by no means a star. It just went in steps and I had to earn what I got going up to senior year and I think I was able to close it out well."

Two touchdowns in a Sugar Bowl win were exclamation points on an Ohio State career that included being named 2010's Most Valuable Buckeye.

"It's been crazy," Sanzenbacher said. "I wouldn't have pictured it like this, but I wouldn't change a thing.

"My favorite Buckeye moment, to this point, was running out on Senior Day when they announce your name and you get to be recognized and (you) run out to your family on the field and everything.

"It was one of those things that I know I won't fully appreciate until later on down the road when I think back on it," he said.

Dane Sanz autographe seekers BEWARE!
There is a disturbing fact I discovered today. The stores are selling two DIFFERENT images with regards to quality of the "Block O" gloves with Dane. I bought one the other day and it looked pixelated to me and I posted as such here in the other thread, but today I bought an autographed photo of the same image, but it wasn't the same when you see it. It's of much better quality and much crisper. It has the Dispatch logo on it which I don't like (don't like the red hologram either) but it's a much cleaner image. I bought the first "bad" image at Tuttle's Buckeye Room and today bought the second "good" image at Polaris Buckeye Room. I question the practice of the stores and or promoters in selling the "bad" image. Anyone who has the "bad" image without the Dispatch logo should demand a refund or an exchange for one of the "good" ones with the Dispatch logo. See the images below and you can see what I'm talking about. The average person may not catch it unless it's pointed out and if you're paying good money you deserve the best image they have. They're cutting corners somewhere and it's not cool. It looks exactly like the image was pulled off the Dispatch website as a cheap copy like I posted in the other thread. All memorabilia collectors who have gone to or plan on going to a Dane Sanzenbacher signing should DEMAND the photo with the Dispatch logo if you want this particular image.
