remember when some people complained about this camp offer?

They offered some fine prospects, little, hankerson, hemingway but osu got the star.

Yup, I remember that too. Dane was kinda like the little engine that could. Just kept his nose down, fought hard each and every day and tried to get better and just help the team.

We'll miss Dane's intagibles. Somehow this dude was always in the right spot. Whether catching a pass that was tipped off of another player or going after the fumble in the end zone in the Sugar Bowl...he's just somehow there.

Good athlete, better player, even better person. Woody would like this kid....a lot.

Thank You Dane

OK I admit it! I have had a serious "man crush" on Dane Sanzenbacher since winning the State Championship in HS. Now all you guys know why. He has been the pulse and heart of two very good teams since those early days at Toledo Central Catholic to his final college game in the Sugar Bowl for Ohio State.

After the fumble recovery I couldn't respond, after the TD catch I was blown away, after the post game interview with Lou Holtz - he continues to amaze. Lou gave Dane his contact information "so he could get into touch later on". I can see Dane standing on the stage over a podium with Dr Lou doing one his inspirational seminars to groups of business men, fans, and others. That is when he finds time from his NFL career!

As Dane said "It's better to be lucky than good". Young man, let me say that we have been "lucky" to have you these past 4 years, and it has been "good" (no great) to know you as my favorite Buckeye ever! Go Bucks!

In the afterglow of the Buckeyes' first bowl win against a Southeastern Conference team, Sanzenbacher spoke of the completed season.
"Part of being a leader is being able to pass that down," he said, explaining how important it is for the seniors to prepare their younger teammates for what comes next. "If you lead from the top and then you're gone, then it's gone. What have you really left as a legacy?"

Dane's Legacy - preparing the younger players for the journey ahead. :osu:

Dane Sanzenbacher knew it was going to be a good day in the Big Easy when his first look at a football during the game turned into a touchdown. Here the senior Buckeyes wide receiver was, playing his final collegiate football game - a BCS one at that - and Terrelle Pryor's fumble from the 3-yard line squirted right out of the Arkansas defenders' grasp. Sanzenbacher pounced on the ball for the Buckeyes - first touchdown - a foreshadowing of the favorable night, a 31-26 Ohio State victory over Arkansas.

Just wanted to capture this for all the Dane fans.

While I do agree about the young mans attitude and desire to be a buckeye, I think this young man is a serious reach by this staff. I can see making an offer if you have room in December (late) but in July????

His current offers are all MAC schools with the exception of Iowa. I just dont see him ever making a major contribution. He's not particularly tall and IMO he is too slow to put in the secondary. Basically, he is probably going to be a possession type reciever or special teams player. Thats why Im really surprised at an offer this early given his size, speed and offers

The time in the 400 has no relationship to how fast you are in the 40. Thats almost like comparing his time in the 800 to the 40
grad's too classy to bump this thread with this post......but I'm not.

Going to miss him a lot next year. He's been absolutely amazing for tOSU, on and off the field. Consistency is underrated, and Dane was the master at it -- constantly steady every game, dependable.. when Pryor would scramble and lob it up in the air, it was always Dane whom he went to, and it's those kinds of plays that define Dane IMO -- fighting to get open when the play breaks down, always there for his QB and his team.

Dane Sanzenbacher's fumble recovery for a touchdown kept the momentum for Ohio State in the Sugar Bowl.

Best save: Dane Sanzenbacher showed why his Ohio State teammates voted him MVP on the opening drive of the Allstate Sugar Bowl. Pryor neared the goal line on an electrifying run but fumbled the ball into the end zone. An Arkansas recovery would have turned momentum, but Sanzenbacher saved his quarterback by falling on the ball for his first career "rushing touchdown." Ohio State surged to a 28-7 lead and held on to win 31-26.
