OR, perhaps he needs to try The Leap since every running back seems to be doing it. (Some RB is going to get CLOCKED jumping over someone soon...)
shhh, James is itching to return the favor for the Boston SI cover.

Dane, worries the crap outta me. Don't get me wrong, he is a TAMF tough ass mo' fo', but at 5'11" 175 pounds he needs to learn a lesson from Kenny Rogers and know when to hold em', know when run out of bounds. I appreciate the toughness of going for that extra couple of yards, but please, as an excellent possession guy, I hope he learns to run out of bounds.

Uh, the hit where he got blasted at Wisconsin was over the middle. Pretty hard to run it out on bounds when three defenders hit you, at the same time, in between the hash marks...

The play to Dane he was running full speed ahead and he could of tried to soften the blow a little bit instead of going into the guy full head of steam...

It isn't a matter of alligator arming a ball, or not blocking, or not going up and getting a ball...

It is just a matter of when he is running in the open field and he has the ability to get the same amount of yardage, but take less of a blow that is smarter and better for his health...

He caught the ball and made someone miss then ran over the middle...

Regardless of that it would be pretty stupid to run out of bounds. Unless your in a hurry up situation where the clock is crucial receivers are taught to catch it and run to daylight which is what Dane did... 3 people just happened to meet him in the daylight.

Daylight and then lights out. Crikies. I just hope that he comes back the same kid only a bit smarter about getting down before getting killed. I'm sure that he did exactly as coached... as in running for daylight... but daaaaaum... he got it hard trying to get a couple extra yards for the team. As far as I'm concerned he may just be the toughest SOB under 6 foot and 200 lbs that I've ever seen. It's not exactly like this is the first hit he's taken this year that we ALL winced at.

I definately cannot find fault in not keeping the ball in that situation. We saw two really big hits on our guys last weekend, and I for one am just glad it wasn't my boys taking those hits. (That's why we play golf and Lacrosse in our house :paranoid:) I just hope that he (and Boom for that matter) come back without any ghosts following them on the field.

:oh:

And "his boys" will be back for the Sparty game, lets hope that his head will be in it too. This is the life of a possession receiver! He'll be fine physically. But I would agree with the notion that he may shy away from those hits in the future. Then again, this was his 3rd this year so far. One last year and one that I recall as a Senior in HS. He likes the contact.

Hope he returns with the same intensity.

That's funny... never meant for the "my boys" reference to be taken quite like that. I really was talking about my 4 and 6 year old sons. But now that you mention it... I'm glad that all four of my boys weren't involved in those hits.
