WR Dane Sanzenbacher (Official Thread)

TCC's unis are pretty sweet in scarlet and gray... by featuring those two colors, rather than scarlet, white and grey (pre-06), in that order. I still think a shiny grey/silver number on our scarlet jerseys, paired with the old shiny pants... would look pretty sweet.

Well, JT better send someone and find out who that other OSU-fan speedster is...

I have no idea what his name is, nor his times. I thought I had missed something that would inspire the recruiting followup.

I figured an open OSU football fan who has qualified for a state finals track event would be someone to look into...

I can tell you that he's not from TCC. The four guys (three runners and coach) in the foreground are the 4 x 400 relay team. Sam Hogue (#911 on back with Toledo Ohio shaved in his head) is on the left. Sam also ran the 300 hurdles. Dane of course is in the middle and I think Cedric Bouyer is to the right behind the coach. The fourth runner in that event from TCC is Mike Krieg (not in the picture). All of these guys were on the football team with Dane. You know the team that went 23-2 over two seasons. Hogue is a WR and Bouyer is a RB for TCC

Now the guy in the hoodie, I can picture the three from TCC with footballs in the arms running north and and south up the field. I sure don't know the "speedster" in the hoodie but he could be Kyle Jefferson from Cleveland Glennville. You know the school were TGII went. Just a hunch. They placed 5th in the finals with Kyle running the anchor. Or it could be Matt Love from Cleveland Heights (also a 400 runner) and he ran the anchor leg of the their 4X400 relay that placed 2nd.

Other than that, there are 18 more names of runners of that event on the link I provided above. Dane and Sam (Sam fell in the 300 hurdles that he was winning and Dane ran faster in the prelims) didn't have their best day, but you have to agree that they reached a place that 99% of the kids in Ohio did not and that is an accomplishment. I too liked the colors of the unis from TCC and look forward to seeing these same colors on Dane this season. :osu:

I'm pretty sure Glenville showed up in black warmups, at least they did the first day.

That was a real bummer... I couldn't tell if he was leading or neck and neck with the eventual champion... but he certainly would have finished 2nd at worst.

Then, why the comment about him unless this was some editorial comment about the speed of others. Here we go again. I'd say suit Dane up and give him a try. He didn't win that thing but he did get there from the regionals with shots at 4 events (400 and the team relays). THE KID HAS HEART. Enough said.
He's talking about the hoodie kid that Mili was curious about... not Dane.

Thanks jw, I may be too defensive. we need some football to talk about now with track behind us (them). All these kids, "hoodie" kid and all, deserve recognition for just being there. They all have a special ability that brought them there.

From above post:
That's not to take away from what I'm sure was a special day for him.

You stated the kid may be Kyle Jefferson and I was replying that he wasn't from Glenville. Glenville had on all black and Heights had black with gold lettering.

Dane and Dean

A former Buckeye RB Dean Sensanbaugher is the current holder of the kickoff return record at 103 yards set in 1947.

Dane Sanzenbacher will have to make to kickoff return team if we want to see this story develop. The similarity in names makes this kinda interesting. Does anyone know if that record is still valid and who came close to it? TGII would be a contender.

IIRC, they no longer include the endzone yardage in returns, so everything is 100 yards or less. Teddy did have a full-field return against Minnesota.

Too bad they don't count distance traveled (or throw out the bogus flag), because Teddy's IU KR was 135+ yards long.

The 103-yarder is still the official kickoff return record for tOSU.

The other 100+ kickoff returns are:

Bill Wentz, at Illinois in 1960
Carlos Snow, at Pitt in 1988
Michael Wiley, vs, BG in 1997
Ted Ginn, Jr. at Minn in 2005

Keith Byars had a 99-yard return (tackled at the 1) vs. Pitt in 1984.
Dean Sensanbaugher also had a 98-yard kickoff return TD at Purdue in 1947.

The only player besides Ginn and Sensanbaugher to have two kickoff return TD's in Lenny Willis, who holds the single season record since he got both in 1974.

Photo Gallery of OHSAA Track Finals... feat. Isles, Scott, Dane S, Merrill, Clements, Jefferson, Posey.

Great picks Josh! I watched both the Division I and III finals and there was some great competitions going on with plenty of state records broken... It was even more exciting for me as my alma mater finished second in the boys D-III team standings.

Congrats to Dan and Toledo Central Catholic on their performances at the State meet!
