WR Dane Sanzenbacher (Official Thread)

Kick Returners

From a recent Columbus Dispatch article...

Two return candidates were out with injuries: receiver Brian Hartline and safety Jamario O'Neal. Tressel also has mentioned incoming freshmen Brandon Saine, James Scott, Dane Sanzenbacher and Taurian Washington as possibly being tried there.
Scott is participating in spring practice but did not return kicks yesterday.
"We're going to have lots of guys to compete," Tressel said. "They'll all get measured against Teddy, but that's life."

District Track Wins for Sanzenbacher

http://www.toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070520/SPORTS06/705200364/-1/SPORTS

Ohio State University-bound Dane Sanzenbacher didn't have any trouble repeating as district champion in the 400 (48.64), which helped play a part in Central finishing as district runner-up with 72 points, followed by Whitmer with 69. Sanzenbacher also ran on Central's 400, 800 and 1600 relay teams that posted victories.

The weather on Saturday was ideal as Dane posted wins in the 400m with a 48.64 sec as well as anchoring wins in the 400, 800, and 1600 m relays. He had been previously timed at 48.29 sec in the 400 m and he seems to be on tract for breaking the 48 sec mark. I love this kid, he just keeps going. The thing about track is it's individual effort and it's his will to better the times that took him to the state meet last year. His father said that Dane loves to compete and is driven to better his performance of last year. I'd say he's going pretty well in that direction. With the Regionals next weekend in Amherst, OH and the State Meet the following weekend in Columbus, all Dane needs to do is run consistently as he has so far and stay healthy.

Let's not forget the other three relays events that Dane participated in this year with help from Hogue, Arnold, McIntosh and Krieg. Winning the 400 relay in 43.52 sec put TCC ahead of last years winner by a half second.

According to his dad, Dane will be on campus June 18th and will be ready for summer football camp. Running to get in shape shouldn't be a problem for this kid!

Dane loves to compete and with Youngstown State our first game on Sept 1, he will find himself competing again for a place on the football field.

Is anyone reading this?

Anyone want to compare his speed to Gonzo's when Gonzo first arrived?

http://www.ohsaa.org/sports/tf/2003/results03.htm

There are several tOSU WR's mentioned in the 2003 Ohio State Track Meet. Ted Ginn Jr. ran in the same heat as Brian Hartline in the 110 m hurdles. Jamario O'Neal in the 100 m and Tony Gonzalez anchoring the winning 4x400 m relay with a time of 3:17.01.

We'll need to dig for other times for Gonzo from the Cleveland PD for 2003. Gonzo ran the 400 m as does Dane. Dane currently has his best time in that event at 48.29 sec.

Dane will not play in the North-South Game, will room with Brandon Saine, and will likely wear #12.

Dane may be disappointed but he has a lot invested in track this year, I like Brandon and Dane as room mates. They have a lot in common. If one of them installs an oxygen deprivation tent, it's deja vu all over again...

And , so I googled altitude tent and this what they look like.

http://www.mensvogue.com/health/regimen/articles/2007/02/mile_high_oxygen?currentPage=1

As Anthony Gonzalez, the Ohio State wide receiver who sleeps in a CAT tent and, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, also studies and plays his Xbox in it (he's not married, obviously), reportedly said, "It's very difficult to explain to people that you sleep in a tent."

I could have used one of these when I was in college.

I sleep in a CAT tent every night! LOL
It's called my house!(7400ft) :tongue2:

OK, poke fun if you want (I was just having a little speculative fun myself). The pseudo rarified air makes for better WRs and RBs (more stamina according to Gonzo). Gonzo knew something about this and it worked for him. Medically speaking, I can't say if it's good on a long term basis (4 years in college should be the limit as long as it enhances performance). That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Yes, I'm reading. I'm going to go watch Dane, the rest of the Central's boys, and visit with Coach P. at State's this year.

I may be there also, I love watching track and baking in the sun all afternoon to watch a race that takes a minute. Kidding!!

Seriously,as a former runner, it's worth the wait and the sunburn. Dane will be a great asset to this team with or without the altitude tent!!

Here's a twist, maybe some quack would think it's like blood doping???

I don't know if the NCAA has a rule on this, does anyone know if this has ever come up?

Gonzo's tent use was well-documented last season.

buckeyeplanet.gonzo.page=14

It's currently being looked at by WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) to see if there are any harmful aspects to its use. It would make sense for the NCAA to wait for any conclusions from the WADA tests before making a decision.

World Anti-Doping Agency holds off on oxygen-tent banPosted 9/16/2006 8:00 PM ET
MONTREAL - The World Anti-Doping Agency held off on banning the use of hypoxic chambers, but asked that studies look further into health implications.

Hypoxic or hyperbaric tents and chambers are used by many athletes to replicate high-altitude conditions and boost levels of oxygen-rich red blood cells.

WADA's ethics committee ruled Saturday that the chambers enhance performance and violate "the spirit of sport" but the executive committee refrained from adding them to their list of prohibited substances and methods for 2007 during its meeting Saturday.

"It doesn't mean we approve it," WADA head Dick Pound said.

He noted that with the current information available, putting it on the list was not warranted.

"Some people under some conditions, yes, you can obtain some performance-enhancing effect, but not in all," Pound said. "We are however
concerned that there may be some potential danger of a medical nature."

WADA said it asked the IOC medical commission to look into the issue of health effects.

WADA's scientific director, Olivier Rabin, said that side-effects of using the chambers could include altitude-sickness as well as sleep disturbance and could affect the response of the immune system.

Cont'd ...

Is Dane going to be running at the state track meet next weekend? (Also, anyone know what other Buckeye recruits will be running?)

I have been trying to find winning times for him in the prelim with not no success. His best 400 time of 48.29 would put him up in the pack. I don't know what he ran on wednesday. So we'll have to wait and see. Regional Finals are tonight at 4:00 at Amherst Steele HS.

Other recruits running? I don't think there are any from tOSU. A few going to other schools, WR Kyle Jefferson who's going to Iowa I think. Good question.
