WR Carnell Tate (Official Thread)

For all you Nutters out there, watched a Josh Pate vignette about tOSU WR room. He opined 'tOSU has Emeka and alot of names'.....wow, Josh, my opinion of you went down a hundred points at least. Let me set you straight. Yeah, there's the shining star, Emeka Ebuka. Oh, what? Jayden Ballard has lots of experience, time in, and wheels. He'd start at 98% of other schools. Carnell Tate, got some significant minutes last year as a true freshman, and practices every day against the best DBs in the land. Brandon Inness, maybe ranked a bit higher than Tate, enrolled late, but has been a fast learner. Only one catch last year you say? It was only a 58 yard TD with x yards after catch. Plus the four or five 4*s that have waited patiently behind. Finally, one name you might want to remember, Josh. Jeremiah Johnson, only the #1 receiver from HS, and the #1 player in America. If it wouldn't get me in trouble, I might opine that he's a Marvin Harris Jr clone. It appears he has the same attributes as MHjr, just lacks the college experience, which again, he's getting by going up against best DBIA. What say you bookmark your remarks until the late fall, and let's revisit them. Huh?
Couldn’t have said it better buddy! It goes to show that national guys only know a few teams very well. And unfortunately Pate doesn’t know much about OSU. I’d put OSU’s WR room up against any in the country.

I took that as we have 1 superstar and a bunch of guys who might be. It got us talking about it so he was successful. I was figuring every football person in the country knew we had the best room in the country. Maybe not

Someone needs to download that podcast so that we can play it back and promote it heavily in social media at the end of this season.

Some of my friends were moaning about Pate, but he is not in the facts business, he is in entertainment. He bought a bit of early credibility with some legitimate insights, but then he bought into TCUN last year so totally that he refused to consider whether they received any advantage from their sign stealing operation--even after many well-known coaches indicated what an advantage it was.

Why hang on like that? Because he wanted so badly to be seen as someone with great insights. Someone who saw a NC team before others. A visionary. Uh, no.

Recently, I saw a podcast preview from him. Pate apparently thinks that Ohio State hiring Chip Kelly was a hugely positive thing and that Ohio State could be a real power this year. Apparently, blind and deaf and still in that grave, Helen Keller also picked up on that. God rest her soul.

I didn't stop watching Pate because he wasn't slobbering on Ohio State. I stopped because he decided to take the same click-chasing path we have seen so often. It is hard to remember that Herbstreit once merited view time because you learned something from his comments.

Pate once lined up teams and talked about what they were doing in his podcasts. Now, he is just chasing clicks with his podcasts and I choose to ignore him.

Ohio State receiver Carnell Tate signs NIL deal with hometown MLB team

In the era of name, image and likeness, many collegiate players have been taking advantage to multiple opportunities that have presented themselves, and Ohio State football wide receiver, Carnell Tate, is no different.

The rising-sophomore finished his high school career in Florida, but is an Illinois native. That fact he went to Marist High School, which is on the south side of Chicago, and gave the Chicago White Sox incentive to reach out to Tate about an NIL deal.

That all came to fruition as it was announced on Thursday that the Sox have partnered up with Tate, along with multiple other local collegiate stars as CHISOX Athlete Class of 2024.

He's getting completely forgotten about in all the JJ hype. But Tate is legit, and arguably one of the best in the B1G if not all of CFB
Absolutely. Tate, Innis, Rogers and Rodgers are all going to be factors imo if Hartline rotates. They're all so talented and have a great under their belts. I see Egbuka and Tate as the guys getting the most looks, but there's going to be a bunch of others that should get on the field.

Uh… He’s now in Raleigh at NC State… I’d replace him with Smith
Tate
Egbuka
Inniss
Smith
Rodgers
Ballard/Grayes/Antwi
That would be a great rotation imo

Hartline rotated 5 last year. How many do you want? 5 seems reasonable for 3 spots.
Idk where you saw that he rotated 5, at best he rotated 4, with Tate being the 4th. Stover was tied for 2nd in receptions. It’s true that Hartline hasn’t rotated since he took the position. But I’m hoping like @Mike80 is saying, that Kelly can override him at times and utilize more of a rotation because it will be harder to keep guys on the roster over time.

Geesh, I totally missed that one...really had high hopes for him. But yes, that is a rotation I can get down with. I do think we'll see more rotation this year. During Hartline's tenure, how the hell do you keep the likes of Olave, Wilson, Harrison Jr., Egbuka, etc. off the field. You have elite WRs that you aren't going to take off the field very often. I think we needed a little more PT for some guys, but I don't think Hartline royally screwed it up on rotation like some seem to think.

Not saying we don't have a great WR room now, but there are less known commodities I think a lot of guys will play to sort out the pecking order. I do think Tate is a guy that won't come off the field much along with Egbuka if healthy, but you can still do a heavy rotation there. Innis is going to be a star and he has to play a ton, same with JJ Smith. I agree with the order of the depth chart you have above though.
