A common word that came up when describing why Tate is in such a position to succeed early in his Ohio State career was “pro.”
“He’s gonna be the next first-rounder out of here, mark my words,” Burke said. “He’s a great player. He’s a pro on and off the field. I kind of see a little bit of him in me when I was a freshman coming in, how focused he was and how much this game means to him.”
As much shows in his approach to the game. Tate has a desire to better himself and puts in the work to do so. He takes coaching and applies critiques to the field to improve.
“The way he approaches the game, his understanding of defenses, his understanding of plays and the ability to recollect different coaching points and transfer that to the field as a pro,” Xavier Johnson said of why Tate was able to earn early playing time as a freshman. “That’s a big mark of someone who’s ready for the big stage. He does that well. He does that with the best of them.”
“HE’S GONNA BE THE NEXT FIRST-ROUNDER OUT OF HERE, MARK MY WORDS.”– DENZEL BURKE ON CARNELL TATE
Tate was also a 5* at one time, from memory. They were both equally highly pursued by schools, and both are studsI seem to recollect Tate was a 4* out of HS. Brandon Inness was a 5*, no? Wonder how come not hearing anything from Brandon, and all the hollering is about Tate. Does early entry into college give one that big of an edge? Not trying to badmouth anyone, just asking a rhetorical question on a Sunday morning. tOSU WR room is still stacked three deep with outstanding players.....
Different positions……Tate is an outside guy, and was put in a position to get reps behind Marvin Harrison Jr. and Fleming.I seem to recollect Tate was a 4* out of HS. Brandon Inness was a 5*, no? This thread NEEDED to be bumped as Tate is set to fill in for MHjr next year as the go to WR. I get it that JJ is the new shiney toy, but let’s not forget that a true frosh Carnell Tate was also said to be more Advanced than MHjr was at the same stage. And that was said by MHjr! Also, Burke said that Tate was going to be the next 1st round WR out of OSU(he said the same about JJ a few weeks ago) last year…
Tate deserves more love this off season.
Yes, but Day and Kelly like running 2 TE sets, so that would mean 3 WRs, but a strong 4 man rotation, but go up to 6-7.So 4 wr set
Egbuka
Tate
Innis
JJ
Holy hell
Sounds like this Johnson kid might give Jeremiah Smith a run for his money! For all you Nutters out there, watched a Josh Pate vignette about tOSU WR room. He opined 'tOSU has Emeka and alot of names'.....wow, Josh, my opinion of you went down a hundred points at least. Let me set you straight. Yeah, there's the shining star, Emeka Ebuka. Oh, what? Jayden Ballard has lots of experience, time in, and wheels. He'd start at 98% of other schools. Carnell Tate, got some significant minutes last year as a true freshman, and practices every day against the best DBs in the land. Brandon Inness, maybe ranked a bit higher than Tate, enrolled late, but has been a fast learner. Only one catch last year you say? It was only a 58 yard TD with x yards after catch. Plus the four or five 4*s that have waited patiently behind. Finally, one name you might want to remember, Josh. Jeremiah Johnson, only the #1 receiver from HS, and the #1 player in America. If it wouldn't get me in trouble, I might opine that he's a Marvin Harris Jr clone. It appears he has the same attributes as MHjr, just lacks the college experience, which again, he's getting by going up against best DBIA. What say you bookmark your remarks until the late fall, and let's revisit them. Huh?
