As quarterback, not running back, Miller saves Wayne on huge fourth down

It will be one of those plays discussed for years in area high school football circles.
And it proved what Wayne football coach Jay Minton has been saying all along, including just this past week: Braxton Miller is a heck of a quarterback, not just a heck of a running quarterback.
Miller has led Wayne by becoming more of a pocket quarterback, not a running quarterback
Practice was happening around him, and Minton was talking about Taylor?s increased role following Miller?s high ankle sprain suffered late in the season-opening loss against Moeller. Following the injury, Wayne was forced to do what it wanted to do all along. Namely, keep Miller in the pocket more.
?We kinda said, ?We gotta change all this,? ? Minton said Thursday. ?He?s not a running back, he?s a quarterback. What we needed to do to really help us was change our whole mentality, because he?s not a running back.?
Miller probably ran a little more than Wayne would?ve liked on Saturday. His official stats were 20 carries for 13 yards, as the intense St. Xavier defense pressured Miller into several scrambles and sacks that caused negative yardage. His longest run was 9 yards.
In the passing game, Miller finished with 16-of-29 completions for 178 yards and a touchdown on a first-quarter strike to Seth Stuart.
The play that symbolized what Wayne hoped to become, and what?s possible moving forward, happened on that defining fourth down.
?It?s easy to put a saddle on him and try to ride him when you have players around him, but not that kind of player,? Minton said. ?It?s so easy to do that. We felt like we could have a special season, and (Miller?s injury in Week 1) kind of woke everybody up.
?Not that we were asleep about it, but he was the biggest part of our offense, and we kinda said after that, he?s got to be a big part, but not the biggest.
?We need him to be that quarterback.?

Wow.. They keep on winning! This week will be their toughest test yet, but with the way Wayne has been playing, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they found a way to win. Deepest run in the playoffs since 1999 for Wayne.

Unfortunately Ohio rarely shows playoff games on TV... This weekends game however may be on, just check ONN. I know the State Championship is on TV, but not too sure about the Semi's.
