WR Austin Mack (2023 Grey Cup Champion)

ARMY BOWL: COOPER, MCCALL, MACK LEAD BUCKEYE COMMITS IN SAN ANTONIO

Austin Mack

Mack secured three receptions on five targets (1 drop). He gained 37 yards receiving and made a key block on the East's only touchdown. Austin Mack showed he had talent, but the East's inconsistent quarterback play limited his impact on the game. Mack's biggest play was an 18-yard catch on 4th and 11 late in the second quarter.

On 4th and 11 Austin Mack came through with a diving catch. After the play NBC quoted Mack as saying: “Urban Meyer was the most real coach during the recruiting process.”

Later in the quarter Mack showed an area in which he can improve, dropped passes. In the video below he fails to convert on 3rd and 1.

With Corey Smith missing time recovering from injury as well as a few other players, it seems Mack will have every opportunity to earn some early pt kid is a baller and if he is willing to focus on blocking I wouldn't be surprised one bit if he is playing heavy snaps opening day.

I fully expect Mack to play this year and play a lot. The extra snaps this spring are certainly a plus though and UFM says he looked outstanding in the first practice.

Since his arrival, Mack has received nothing put positive reviews from his coaches and teammates.

“Austin Mack continues to earn time,” Meyer said on Tuesday.

When fellow wide receiver Noah Brown – who is currently watching from the sideline as he recovers from a broken leg suffered last fall – discussed players in his position group that have impressed this spring, Mack was the first name he listed.

“Even watching out here, the young guys in the spring, Austin Mack, Torrance Gibson, they can pull their weight,” he said last week.

Definitely a good thing when his competition at the receiver position (i.e. Noah Brown) says positive things about him.
