WR Albert Dukes (official thread)

Speculation as to what really happened is natural, but we may never know the real facts of the case and what really transpired to allow AD to get 3 months probation (a slap on the wrist). I trust that AD has learned some type of lesson from this but again, I don't know what that lesson really is since I don't know what really happened. The bottom line is that he is back in school, which at this time is more important than actually being back for spring drills.

AD had his day in "court" and received 3 months probation. He should be welcomed back on the team, as it appears JT has done, since nothing came of the charges. Innocent until proven guilty should be more than just some neat words to toss around.

Welcome back AD! You listened to JT by taking Winter Quarter off and seeing this issue resolved. Continue to listen to JT and you will not only leave OSU a much better football player but a much better human being.

Gentlemen its plain scary how many weapons we have on offense.

Ginn
Dukes
Holms
Gonzo
Lyons
Hall

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!! Defensive coordinators are going to be having nightmares.
I love the optimism Brutus, but I think in order for DC's to have nightmares, we need to have a solid running game. If we have a solid running game, then the receiving weapons that you listed will cause many nightmares indeed.

Who is the prosecuting attorney and their background??? Some could care less about right or wrong but instead want to make a name for themselves at the expense of peoples lives.

Who was the prosecuting attorney who was pushing this???

I agree that the threat will help set up the running game. I simply want a solid running game, without the WR corps threat; that is the real nightmare scenario that I want DC's to have next year (and the year after, etc.).

I've defended many people who were originally charged with felonies, and which were plead out as misdemeanors. Happens all the time, and for good reasons, not because someone is being dishonest. Sometimes the original complaint is blown out of proportion, and when the prosecutor reviews the facts in light of the defendant's version of the facts, he/she determines that the proper charge is a misdemeanor. Sometimes the victim (or the victim's mom in our case) decides they don't want to testify, and it weakens the prosecutor's case. In that circumstance, the prosecutor will be willing to allow a plea to a lesser charge, because he/she might not be able to prove the original charge. Sometimes the prosecutor just doesn't have a strong case, even though he has a strong belief that the defendant is guilty.

Oh yeah. Here's another one. Sometimes the underage girl will say she was being raped to keep from getting in trouble with her mom. At first, mom believes her daughter, but later on she finds out it was a lie, and she is willing to drop the charges. That happens all of the time.

I didn't mean he was right about that, I meant he was right in that tOSU fans would be ragging any other program if the situation were the same there.
i know what you meant....but i dont think fans would be doing this if the facts were the same. the kid didnt rape anybody....end of story. had he raped a 12 year old and let back on the team then i would be all over any team in the country.......even ours.

Glad to have Dukes back.

I admit to being slightly uncomfortable with the whole situation, but from JTs perpsective this is really tough. You have to look at the specific circumstances and all the "he-said/she-said" nonsense and not only be stern, but fair to Albert.

As for Tibor, he is just being difficult because he was once convicted of sex with a minor himself.

In fariness to Tibs though I understand it is difficult to tell their age after they have been sheared.

You think that other teams and thier selective memory. or for that matter our own fans from BN would allow the facts to get in the way of ragging another program? I am not talking about the planet, but just fans in general.

Have to agree with that!

I'm not disputing that you guys would show some fairness if this was going on at another school, but I hate to say this, the majority of OSU fans would not be so kind. We're not unique with this, the whole country is the same way. Once someone is simply accused, from that point on its etched into the collective memory about "that sex offender they let back onto the team".

Nothing good can come from this kind of publicity, and there is little anyone can do about it at this point without a public apology from the accuser. I'm not even sure people wouldn't assume she was paid off by a rogue booster.

In other words, people believe what they want to believe.

But I do trust JT, and I believe he will do what is morally right, what is right for the school, and what is right for Albert Dukes. If JT is letting him back on the team, I don't question that decision. I refuse to let ESPiN be the conscience for tOSU. I don't care if they like JT's decision or not, I will hold my head up high as a proud Buckeye fan.

prof, I think the threat of our WR corps will help set up our running game.Aww yes the age old question.... run to set up the pass or pass to set up the run..... What to do.. what to do :-)

Anyway, if this was truly a mistake on Alberts part and he did not know the girls age, or nothing happend welcome back.

If he knowingly did it with a 12 year old then hell no would I want him back. It does seem S-H-A-D-Y that old moms suddenly had a chnage of heart does it not. After months she decides to file charges, then on a whim she decides that what she thinks she saw is not what she saw... WTF????

There could eb a million reasons for this. Maybe the girl didn't want to have to go on the stand, maybe she is being harrased in the neighborhood and mom wants it to end, etc, etc. Since I do not have the facts I am going to go with ignorance is bliss and think Albert is an a fine outstanding young man who made a stupid mistake.
