I want to face Texas again. It would be nice to see us dispell the idea of "best offense ever", once again, after a Big 12 defense gave a team that title in their shot at the MNC. Thing is, I believe that USC or Texas has to lose twice, in order for us to get enough media love to be in the Rose Bowl. That would dispell any notion that they're the best ever anything. Another shot at Texas would be a marketing dream for ABC, and would also provide another classic title game involving the Buckeyes.

We're getting enough media love already. I've heard 3 different media types say we are one of the 4 best teams in the nation right now. There isn't a team in the country that stays ahead of us with a loss, unless we lose again or look like total dogshit in every game. If we win out and there is only 1 undefeated team in the country I guarantee we're in Pasadena.

One of the 4 best. USC being the best. If they lose one game, and there are no other undefeated teams. Many will attribute USC's loss to a series of unfortunate events, rather than just not being the better team that day. Also, the east coast bias cry has created a lot of apologists in the media that will vote west coast, just to prove that they're not biased against it.

I, like many of you, want to see a re-match. Texas. However, I think Texas is better than USC is, and I think that Ohio State would have a better shot at beating USC (though I also believe that Ohio State has a good shot to beat Texas).

I agree with this post. And although I agree with such media members, I am also surprised that many of them have us so high, particularly above undefeated teams in powerhouse conferences (e.g., CFN has us at #3, cnnsi.com's power rankings have us at #4, and espn.com's power rankings have us at 4). Seems like the media is finally catching on. Mark May, on the other hand...

I don't know about this one. I am entirely confident on that we would beat UT if we faced them again, for several reasons (no QB carousel, to name a big one). USC, on the other hand, is an opponent who we have not yet faced, and although I will be the first one to say that the Pac-10 is weak and I'm not convinced they're a great team simply b/c they can roll through their conference season undefeated, there is the element of the unknown.

but what about the game being "in the shoe at night" how many points was that worth again? I respect this board very much but BB you blow my mind sometimes. The fact is, we won. I am sorry if you weren't impressed with the win, and i will conceed that if we play 10 times both probably go 5 and 5, but how can you be "Entirely Confident". We came into the shoe took you defenses best shot(and a very good one i might add) and won.

I understand where you are coming from. But going back to JT's days at YSU, his teams are noted for their development throughout the season. Tressel coached teams play their best games at the end of the season. I think we have a great shot at beating texas at the end of the season, shoe or not.

I said in my post that if ten games were played both teams would go 5-5. I thought it was a very well played game. I just don't agree that something that i see as a 50-50 shot should be described by anyone as a game where you are "entirely confident". I guess that it is nitpicking but it had more to do with the source than anything. If buckeyegrad says that same statement i probably read right past it. Also, I am almost certain that if I spent enough time digging throught the game 2 thread i could find a post from BB stating that "the shoe at night" was worth anywhere from 7 to 14 points, maybe more.

As for getting better as the year goes on, well that is the mark of any good coach. Texas has had a way of getting better as the year goes on too. Its funny every year for the past 5 after the ou loss mack and greg loosen up and we play lights out(until the bowl where we tighten back up) My point is that while i have no doubt that the bucks will get better this year, texas will too. In fact both have already undeniably done so and its only october 6th.

Regardless, good luck against state college! With each passing week it is looking like texas needs tosu for our national perception and poll rankings. Vtech is playing lights out and i am sure that there are more than a few people that would love for them to jump Texas.

HL, you really know how to keep a cool head on our board when people make irrational comments or thoughtless ones. I'm glad you're sticking around on here, and I think a lot of other members on here agree with me :)
