"would you rather see the buckeyes get to play USC or Texas if the opportunity arises at the end of the season"

I assume you are talking in the Rose Bowl. I would like to have the traditional Big Ten - Pac Ten match up. Of course, if we jump a one loss Texas team to beat an undefeated USC in the Rose Bowl, that would bring back talk of a playoff system. So I am all for beating USC in the Rose Bowl.

USC. I agree with those who have said that they'd love to see our D against USC's offense. I think we'd shut down a fair amount of what they're doing to score points every week. Add to that the Big Ten/Pac Ten matchup and our history in the Rose Bowl against USC, and I think it would be cool to play them for all the marbles.

Texas. Beat them with your whole team, the way you want to pick it, and you prove that their victory in the 'shoe was due to the Smith issue. We lose it, and well, we go home and shut up. But, then, we aren't going to lose it are we?

if we play texas and win it is at best a split nc. if texas drops 2 and we get to play USC, its an outright nc. that makes it a pretty easy call for me. id prefer the non split if i can. it would be kinda tough for me to look a texas fan in the eyes and say, "your team isn't the best team in the nation until you beat us..... again.." id love a rematch with texas, but i couldn't imagine wanting it if i were in their shoes. would anyone here want to play a best of 2 series, person who wins the second takes all the marbles, with miami (fl) for the 02 nc? im guessing no.

Given their record and their current poll position I would have to believe that a re-match with Texas is impossible. There would be intense lobbying by Texas against it... much of it with good reason, no one want's to have to play a tough opponent twice.

I think Texas would have to loose twice for us to have any shot at USC. Let's face it, they beat us at the 'Shoe and that is going to count for more than the Smith/Zwick controversy. If USC looses twice it probably means that Notre Dame beat them in which case you know who will go before we go.

Miracles do happen and you do have to win the championship on the field, but this season looks Orange Bowlish to me.

Texas doesn't have to lose twice to lose out to us. Every single year teams are ranked one spot behind a team that they have beaten, therefore it can happen again. Plus we didn't have a starting QB, and lost to a #2 team. If they lose, it will be to a weak opponent (tho I dont' think that's gonna happen), therefore the computer rankings won't like it very much if not the humans. Plus the fact that an early loss is always better than a late loss.
