I would not fire him and all they did was have the best record with a rookie qb that is only going to get better. If Troy Brown does not pull that ball out of the CB's hands there would be no thread. If Maurice does not do that for us Tressel would be 0-2. Things happen outside of a coaches control.

It would have been insane to fire him. People forget how long it took Bill Cowher to win the big one, or that Don Shula couldn't win one for almost the last two decades of his career.

If you fire an NFL coach after a 14-3 season, you need your sanity checked.

Happy trails Marty (per ESPN front page). Paging Pete Carroll. Would be a perfect opportunity for the NFL success Pete craves.......

I wonder if it was a mutual thing....considering that both coordinators plus Chud had left, the cupboard was pretty bare....

I wonder who will end up being the coach. I don't think it will be Pete Carrol. San Diego's GM has a pretty prominent role with the team.

Interesting. A little late in the process isn't it. That's a pretty damn nice situation to walk into. Wonder if Petey would be interested.

I dunno. Not a whole lotta love for Marty in this thread. But I can't help but think of him as the last best coach the Browns have had (the fumble, the drive notwithstanding). He's a keeper as far as I'm concerned. I'll bet at the end of next season, Chargers fans will regret that he's gone. They were on the verge.

He was the last good coach the Browns had. Bud Carson? Belicheck(sp?) was still learning. Chris Palmer? Butchie? :slappy: I think Romeo is a damn good DC, not so much a HC.
