World University Rankings (MEGAMERGE)

I know we've discussed this before, but how much of Georgia & Florida's rise and separation from the rest of the SEC academically has been the result of cultural changes towards public education driven by Yankee transplants demanding that the state flagships move in the direction of the B1G schools?

I can't speak for UF at all - but UGA's rise in rankings is tied directly to the creation of the Hope Scholarship (which is funded primarily from the Georgia Lottery).

Georgia HS students can go to any public school in the state (Tech, Southern, GCSU...etc) and as long as they maintain a 3.0 average, their tuition is totally free. They would only pay for Books/housing/meals. This has made the application and admissions process much, much, much more selective and as such, driven up incoming scores.

Business First's annual rankings are based on a 22-part formula that analyzes the latest data from the National Center for Education Statistics and the U.S. Census Bureau. It gives the highest marks to schools with highly selective admissions processes, strong retention and graduation rates, impressive earnings by alumni, generous resources, affordable tuitions and housing costs, diverse faculties and student bodies, and economically robust communities

USNWR: Ohio State stays at #49. Given that this would cover the post-pandemic class where we screwed up our yield estimate and ended up with a freshman class of 8K, I thought for sure we'd slip out of the top 50 a bit. Still 5th in the B1G after NW, tsun, UW and UI. Case was 44th and no other Ohio schools made the top 100.
